Gamecube compatibility isn't worth much in my opinion. Most of the best Gamecube games have superior Wii versions.

Zelda Wind Waker doesn't, and that alone is a very good reason to have gamecube compatibility

I wouldn't touch Wind Waker with a ten foot pole myself. The only 'Cube game I ever play on my Wii is F Zero GX.

What's that supposed to mean, huh!?

I played Wind Waker back on the Gamecube and thoroughly disliked it.

If I'm buying a Wii at this point, online really doesn't even enter my mind. Not a big issue imo.

Lack of gamecube compatibility turns me off it, but that is understandable too.

for me nintendo has become synonymous with bare bones.

Same as the super slim ps3 which makes no games unplayable and destroys some disc. :). This one sounds nice a family on a low budget.

Only used online really for Netflix on my Wii, so I get by fine without online.

Nintendo has and always will be the best experience with people in the same room. Smash bros, Mario Parties, NSMB, Mario Kart, ect, all infinately more fun with people in same room than over internet.

For many consumers the loss of internet or GCN compatibility isn't a big deal. The system can certainly be enjoyed by millions without those features. The bigger problem is that price tag. If I could buy a Wii with Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort for $130, why would I buy a less capable system with no games for $100?
