I'd like to know your opinion Superchunk? I think Wii U will sell its forecact of 5.5 million Wii U's; however, I am scared of what the system will offer after launch period as it is very vague almost non excistent. I bought a Wii U, got New Super Mario Bros U, Sonic, and Call of Duty and will satisfy my needs until the end of the year. Nonetheless, I'm hearing plenty of people that want to buy a Wii U but are waiting for 'good' games, do you think that Nintendo has something under their sleeves for 2013 or are we repeating the 3ds pattern? :s

I'm in the "maybe" option right now.

I think it has a lot of great games right now. ZombiU, NSMBU, NL, AC3, Batman, COD.

I think it has a lot of great games coming by March. Rayman, Pikmin3, MH, Wonderful101.

That is without considering the few eShop games that are solid and I'm sure I'm not remembering something. I think it really comes down to a massive lack of advertising by Nintendo and especially retailer ads (printed).

With the PS3 getting a head start, I hope the deniers stay put.

I've heard this good games junk reply here where I live as well. I think these guys are just either Call of Duty nut-jobs or plain out fanboys/Nintendo haters (yes that's all it boils down to). They will get a Wii U eventually and say that they bought it for their girlfriend or something like that, but they will buy it eventually, and it wouldn't be for the 'good games', which the Wii U already has.

edit:

These people waiting for 'good games' expect Nintendo to release Mario in November, Pikmin in December, Metroid in January, Zelda in February, Bayonnetta in March, Wonderful 101 April, etc...

What?

PS3 has two extra weeks in the OP solely due to when it lauched vs when all of the others launched.

To answer the poll in the OP, no, I do not believe the Wii U will meet Nintendo's goal of selling 5.5MM units by the end of Q1 2013.

The good news to my pessimism is that I can only be proven right, or be proven wrong and be happier.

So I take it WiiU does better than PS360 did? That's something at least. Wii massive start was unparalleled though, I don't see anything beating that anytime soon.

I'll answer the poll with 'Maybe'. They could make it, but then it will be barely. I think the WiiU will do just under that. Being so close to Wii's first year sales seems unlikely. I do think however that the WiiU will be able to sell more consistently and have better years in the second half of it's life than Wii did if Nintendo (and third parties) supports it better.

It was funnier when we're just speculating.
Which games to be ambassador's next year?

:(

Taking another look... I don't see how WiiU will be at the levels 3DS was when it did what it had to do. I think it will be fine and very likely better than what PS360 were able to do in same time frame. Of course this will become clearer in January (for better or worse).

There is no way that the Wii U will sell as well as the Wii and hit 5.5 million units. What an optimistic number. Unlike the PS3 and the Wii, the Wii U's second week numbers were even worse than its first week numbers... Maybe because ZombiU got some bad reviews, maybe because others aren't convinced by the hardware... Either way, I say around 3.5million, 4 million optimistically.

PS3's 2nd week is misleading. It launched at the very end of its first week, in Japan only. The 2nd week was the launch for PS3 in NA.
