Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why does it seem like the vita is getting more games than the 3ds?

Guys, it's not fair comparing PSV software. It's plagued by piracy just like its predecessor so it made up the loses from expensive memory cards.

and here we go again, sales apperantly mean quality. when ever i get into a discussion about games that gets thrown out alot, but this game sold better  ect ect. and here is a link to an IGN article, you know IGN one of the biggest gaming websites in the world. do they mention smart as and guacomole in it?

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/10/12/nycc-upcoming-playstation-vita-games-galore

While sales =/= quality, neither does exclusivity. All of the games on that link look like crap to me, with the exception of Playstation Smash Bros.

Also a side note, I've been holding off getting a 3DS for Fire Emblem: Awakening, a game which might be the first in the franchise to break 1 million sales. Niche games can be good games, and can be great system sellers, this is why most of PSV's upcoming list is still valid, despite the fact that most of them won't break 1 million sales.

Can you provide some examples to support your claim?

Really, already? Or are you joking? Did 3DS get hacked yet too?

Also, off topic, but why do people blaime PSP's poor software sales on piracy? DS is pirated even more easily with a single game card. Heck, this is how I'm playing Fire Emblem 12: Heros of Light and Shadow in English on my DS (I did import a Japanese copy of the game for wuite a bit though, huge fan of the series).

Wrong. You are simply not paying enough attention to the upcoming 3DS lineup (along with the eShop presently).

Its going to be only another 6 months 3DS then Vita will crush its games in Quality and Innovation.

The Vita has the best 1st year lineup Ive ever seen. So many good games came out these past few months. Cant wait on Soul Sacrifice.

I gather you weren't into gaming when the SNES, PSX, and Dreamcast were respectively launched.

If one game over 90 (itself an "enhanced" port of a 5 year old game) is the best launch lineup you've ever seen.

http://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/release-date/available/dreamcast/metascore - look at how many of those titles came out in the first 12/13 months!

Metacritic doesn't have SNES games - and only 200 or so PSX games out of the 1000 plus released , and of those, reveiews are pretty sparse, so not giving a fair average - but to cite 3 - that would easily average over 90 if metacritic was a thing then - if I hadn't lost all my Mean Machines and EGM's from the 90's in a flood - i'd probably go dig em out!

PSX - Tekken, Ridge Racer and Wipeout - in the launch month - were absolute AAA at the time.

SNES - MarioWorld, ActRaiser, F-Zero - all absolute AAA.

Crikey - even the original Gameboy had MarioLand and Tetris at launch.

And 3DS got Ocarina, SM3d and SMK7 in its first year. One an enhanced port of a 10+ year old game.

This "Vita has the best launch lineup ever" is factually incorrect. Big Time. Critical wise, sales wise and historically speaking against other launches in both those categories. Whatever way you want to slice it.

I've nothing against the console, and will most likely get one at some stage - but I just wish some people would realise - when you point at the sky and tell people it's green, most people will just shrug their shoulders and go "whatever". Credit people with some intelligence - when they hear a deluded (or downright false) statement - they're likely to just walk away and say "that guy's nuts" - rather than argue with a crazy person.

Vita looks OK, it has some alright games, and more on the way. Tearaway could be a 95+. But all this ranting and raving and undue hyping makes a lot of people sound like a gaggle of FOX news pundits before election day. "Landslide for Romney Vita!" So wrapped up in their own bubbles, that the reality outside is pretty distorted.  And rational minded people couldn't be bothered to tell the emperor that he's wearing no clothes, so have a little chuckle, and get on with it.

But 3DS has more games. It has more games upcoming. It has a higher number of higher rated games.

My first console was the sega mega drive but whatevs. Out of all the consoles I own the Vita has the best launch line up Ive seen, outside PS2. It is amazing. So many different and unique games.

You didn't't understand me, I'm not arguing about scores or sales, you are. I don't care about 3DS games, there are maybe 5 3DS games I want right now while I already have 20 Vita games in 8 months.

Hatsune Miku PDf and DJMa Technika Tune are one of the coolest launches this year. Thank god for region free gaming.

Its a ridiculous assumption. Half of the Vita games dont even leave Japan aswell.

From next years list see the difference:

For Vita:
Dragon's Crown
Final Fantasy X HD
Killzone Mercenary (I'm especially excited for this one)
Soul Sacrifice
Dead or Alive 5 Plus
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time

For 3DS:
Ace Attorney 5
Animal Crossing
Devil Summoner: Soul Hacker
Donkey Kong Country: Returns (rumored)

Dragon Quest VII
Fire Emblem (new footage from Nintendo Direct looks awesome)
Luigi's Mansion
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Monster Hunter 4
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon

Prof Layton vs. Ace Attorney
Shin Megami Tensai IV
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate
Brain Age

Vita: 2 Ports of PS3 games, im assuming thats a new Sly cooper as i dont follow the series, but it would be 3 exclusive Vita games.

3DS: 5 exclusive games and a port. Also these exclusives are the size of Castlevania, Luigi's mansion and Animal crossing and the port is no less than Monster Hunter 3G. The last 3 will probably outsell all exclusives Vita will have for the year. This is also not counting Bravely default wich has been trademarked already for the west.

The 3DS is a smashing sucess in Japan, its garanteed to have plenty more titles announced to it next year. I think this is just another case of denial. Dont get me wrong, i want a reason to buy a Vita. If it had full backwards compatibility i would already be planning to get one, but those argument are too weak and everyone can see through the desperation.

Your list is incomplete, just look at the Most Wanted section if you want ot check for all the games. I bolded what I added.

So 3 exclusive Vita games, a port, and 3 enhanced remakes.

and 12 exclusive 3DS games, a port, and an enchanced remake.

This kinda favors 3DS....just a bit.

Thank you, though its missing Tear up and PSO2 on the Vita side.

Still it makes it completely obvious that the 3DS line-up is miles ahead of the Vita one. Vita fans, this is not the way to raise good will towards your favorite system. Lieing pushes people away, doesnt draw them in. Vita is a nice system and has interesting games coming for it, but it just cant compare to what the 3DS got.

3 angry birds games which cost 40 bucks where you could get them all on your andriod for free with more levels.

They can?! that is cool to know you've done market research and found that every 3ds owner also has an android device with them at all times too. You also need to put up with adverts all over the droid version of Angry birds unless you pay for it as well as just the convience factor of having the trilogy in a tiny cart for the 3ds along with other good portable games rather than having to carry around 2 devices to save 40euros.
