Well we're 45 minutes further and the progress bar has gone up a bit. But it's still as low as ~15% now even after 2 hours of downloading. My download speed is usually around 2MB/s so it can't be that. Nintendo has a problem with the network, there's just no denying for me.

Where do you get 2MB/s from?  Depending on where you got that from, that could be really really slow.  Downloading from my PC, I probably get 800kb/s, but from the speedtest I would get 20mb/s.

Same here and my Wii U update still took about 2 hours.

@Chrizum, if you have a 2MB/s dl speed, just leave the system on all night and see where you are at in the morning.

I think it took mine about 2 hours, as well.  However, if Chrizum is getting 2MB/s on his speedtest or from the data his ISP provided, that could be the reason why it is going so slowly.

You probably mean 2 Mb/s, which isn'that fast at all. It can't be 2 MB because internet speed isn't measured in bytes.

Oh, I wasn't paying attention to the capitalization.  It seems like this is about a difference in bits and bytes.  I don't really know about that stuff.

I mean when I normally download data from my PC or 360. Whenever I have to download 1GB of data it takes me about 10 minutes, maybe 15 minutes tops. This download is what, 5GB? So it should take me 1,25 hours at most. It's taking over 2,5 hours now and it's not even halfway there.

Man, I feel for the ones that have to sit through this update on Christmas day.

Nintendo really needs to get their online act together.. It's freaking 2012, Nintendo. There is no reason it should take an hour plus to download new software.

You just got your Wii U?  I mean, if so, it probably has a lot to do with the fact that you have two updates and that the system itself for doing this stuff hasn't really had much time to mature yet.  It will most likely become better with time.  I think they'll figure it out, the 3DS download speeds might be faster than the Wii U's right now (given that situation).

OK. Just did my update and I SWEAR it didn't took longer then 20 minutes for the whole process.

My update took about 40 minutes.

It's not a big deal at all! It's pretty much understood that internet speed is measured in Mb/s, so even if someone says MB/s, it's pretty understood. But because of the context of saying the speed was fast, it was confusing. 2 Megabytes/s, is 16 Megabits/s, which would be pretty good internet. But 2Mb/s is average DSL speed.
