Forums - Gaming Discussion - Ruffian's canned Streets of Rage remake outed by gameplay video

I think this could be successful if it was released on PSN/Live Arcade. Also I think this would have worked better if it was 3D but movement was limited left/right and slightly moving forward and back (like the originals)

I think people are being too critical of a game that; 1-is in very early stages; 2- most likely a xbla/psn games. I thought it looked pretty good for the most part.

This is critically claimed series without any blemishes. This isnt a C or B class series. This was a Pillar series for SEGA back in the day. Why would people not be critical of it?

It's too hard to judge the game off of pre-alpha work that more than likely didn't have any real polish. The games already been canned, so I'm not sure what there is to complain about.

OMG SOR2 is one of my fave retro games!

There is lots to complain about. Why do you think SEGA is held to such little degree in this industry? Its stuff like this and golden ax and sonic 06 and Nights Wii and black knight, and sonic brotherhood, and Sonic 4(somewhat) and marvel games and all that other outsourced shit. The inabiity to respect there own IP's and to consistently shit all over the loyalty of there fanbase and there own name. After 15 years of waiting do you think this is what streets of rage fans are waitng for!? some passed off project? THIS IS STREETS OF RAGE FOR GAWDS SAKE.

A 3rd person beat em up... no thanks.

Seems like they had some interesting ideas though. They just need to be put into a side scrolling game.

Updated video with sound and notes from one of the devs.

This thing was just a prototype; a pitch.  Nothing to be outraged about.

To be honest...while this probably wouldn't be worth ass hairs of the greatness that Streets of Rage 2 and 3 were, I'd still buy it and play it...IF it had a techno dance soundtrack. :)

Your right. The only  real note worthy games released this gen by sega were new IP's or just straight ports like Guardian Heroes.
