Forums - Gaming Discussion - What game has generated most hype for you this generation?

Without a doubt Halo 3.

Around the Network

This generation most hyped games:

  • Xenoblade Chronicles
  • Mario Galaxy
  • Pikmin 3 (but in the end it turned out to be a Wii U game)
  • The Last Story
  • Uncharted 2
  • Uncharted 3
  • Bayonetta
  • Resident Evil 5
  • Deadly Creatures
  • Super Smash Bros Brawl
  • Kirbys Magic Yarn
  • Zelda: Twilight Princess
  • Zelda: Skyward Sword
  • Mad World
  • Metroid Other M

From these games only The Last Story, Deadly Creatures, Resident Evil 5 and Uncharted 3 don't stand up the hype. Xenoblade Chronicles even exceed my highest expectations.

Games I enjoyed a lot but I had no hype before:

  • Fragile Dreams
  • World of Goo
  • Metroid Prime 3
  • Muramasa: The Demon Blade
  • Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
  • Cursed Mountain
  • Boom Blox
  • Endless Ocean
  • de blob 1+2
  • Pandoras Tower
  • Limbo
  • Lego Star Wars
  • Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
  • Project Zero 2 Wii Edition
  • Donky Kong Country Returns

Next Generation hype games:

  • ZombiU
  • Pikmin 3
  • The Wonderful 101
  • Lego City
  • Bayonetta 2
  • New Monolith Game
  • New Retro Game

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

As a former, 'We don't need no stinkin' consoles!' PC gamer, I have to say, and I know people will cringe, is the Wii and the Kinect launch. The thing that got me out from the better graphics and occasional headaches of a PC was the innovations in movement.

I would visit family and friends and enjoy their consoles, but I was always happy with my PC. I remember the 'le Stick' joystick and thought the Wii would probably fail. But it actually solved the problem le Stick had - no reference point.

Now I have played a bunch of non-movementy stuff, that I wouldn't have played otherwise. And actually prefer of most games to be on a console. It was the innovation in movement that cause me to get out of my comfy chair and play.

PS (I left out the Move, because I have never used it.)

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Crysis 2 (I was killing myself with hype from this game. When the anticipation was at its highest I remember almost consuming myself with Crysis 2 preview videos for almost 24 hours straight a couple of days before the actual game came out. Then it turned out to be an F***ing DISAPPOINTMENT)

MinecraftXBLA (TRULY an amazing port, I praise 4j studios for their work.. and continuous patching of this game. 4 player LOCAL split-screen minecraft while sitting on the couch, life could not go any better than that. My only bad times with this game is when I ran out of ideas of what to build. Immensely hyped since the reveal in E32011. I remember the first preview of MCXBLA on youtube, it got so many dislikes due to Ps3 fanboys.)

Skyrim (Outstanding game, although I didn't enjoy it in the long run due to it not being challenging enough)

COD:BO (AMAZING game, my favourite COD of all time. Played it till I got sick and tired of the game and the whole franchise.)

BF3 (Campaign.. meh. Multiplayer by far tied with Halo 3-4 experience and thats saying ALOT. Although I stopped playing it for a couple of months and now I hate it. Dont know why.)

Halo 4 (I wasn't really that hyped at all, lost faith in Halo after Reach and further then after Bungie dropped the franchise. Preview vids didn't really hype me that much although the dubstep montages of the weaponry are quite entertaining but that was all. However 434i proved me wrong and I readily ate the humble pie after I played Halo 4. Truly an amazing game, deserves to be on the likes of Halo 2-3 if not better.)

Yay!!!

Oh, yeah poor ol' starcraft 2. I think they should at least make the multiplayer f2p.

Skyward Sword and Metal Gear Solid 4
