It's not about winning the most years, it's about getting the highest number overall. The lifetime sales tell us exactly which console sold the most, no questions asked. It's Nintendo's fault for not supporting their console and MS and Sony should benefit for their huge efforts lately to increase their sales.

axctually, its about making the most money.

It won't be the biggest seling console in The US, UK or Japan ever.  The 3 biggest markets, which doesnt bode well for the next PS.


It doesn't have to be, PS3 will collect enough sales throughout different markets to lift it above 100m.

considering all the advantages PS handed 360 (their main competitor for the demographic they go for) they should gain significant ground in the US next gen at least and have a sizable lead in Europe.  Think about this.  If they release the same year or earlier rather than a year later and at the same price or less rather than %50 more expensive and have off the shelf parts rather than the cell which made them have crappy third party games and have some big exclusives within the first 2 years rather than waiting for MGS4 to come.  This generation proved just how powerful the PS brand name is considering they made every possible mistake and still will be second place and possibly first.

It does have a good shot at the Wii but I think you're overestimated PS3 sales as it will be hitting saturation point in Europe so will decline also. 2014 is still good though, just not 2013 imo. As for worldwide, I don't see the PS3 selling another 30+ million consoles but fairplay to Sony if it does, it should pull in some much needed profit. Rest of the world is where the big gains are still to be made for Sony.

Ethomaz you should start a thread with your prediction, I would be interested to see your sales breakdown per region for each year.

I think that is at least possible. PS3 will be sold a lot longer than Wii and 360.

I'd say the xbox will utterly domninate in the US next gen.    I simply cant see any other outcome.  By the way, what if they are a year later than the xbox again?

very bad for sony if they come out last again but if they release same time, its gonna be all about what each console offers and price. no region is locked for any of the big 3.

almost everyone disagreed with me.

dame how in the hell did i miss that thread. must have been one of my disappearing acts. i'd have agreed, but there's a chance Wii won't lead in Japan by 2018!

the others area is the main place that made me think Sony would have won this gen. i never even had 360 and Americas on my little mind, but 360 has shown gritt this gen.

still allot of factors, but it will happen

  easy - we will have the same moaning, the same "what if?"-threads, the same arguments (even if some users leave vgchartz, newer ones will come, as most are exchangable) and still people who can't sleep when "their" brand doesn't lead market.
