Interesting how the console that led this generation is actually only going to be leading in one market. Japan.

The 360 is going to be Americas No1 console.

The PS3 will be Europes No1 console and "rest of the world"

The Wii will be Japans No1 console.

So  when you think about it all consoles this gen are winners. :D

The PS3 is just a few million behind the Wii in Europe and is catching up to the Wii's total europes and rest of the world sales very fast. I predict the PS3 will be the number 1 selling console outside of america and Japan in less than 2 years. 

By years end the PS3 should be at least 5,000,000 units sold this year in europe, bringing its total to around 28.5m. The Wii should be at 2,000,000 maybe slightly higher for this year max, but the wii always surpises come holiday time so you never know. That will brings its total for the year to around 32.7m-33.0m

thats means the PS3 would have outsold the Wii by about 3 million units this year in Europe alone. Reducing the gap from 7 million down to around 4 million.

With the Wii droping faster than any other console I predict that the PS3 will outsell the Wii by more than 3 million next year reducing the gap to less than a million units. By 2014 the PS3 should be the number selling console in europe and the "rest of the world". 

I am thinking it may happen in 2013 but to be sure i am keeping it to 2014. Around the begining on 2014 that is.

It will outsell it by about a million in others over the next few weeks. reducing the gap by around a million from what it is now.

but does it really make a difference considering Nintendo effectively killed of the Wii support?

yes it does. just because nintendo cant support its console after its 3rd or 4th year on the market doesnt downplay what the ps3 is gonna do, it actually makes it mean more as it proofs that sony can support its consoles way better than nintendo

I don't think so. It's over 5 million behind. That's a lot this late in the generation. Sales are slowing for all consoles, even if the PS3's drop-off is milder than the Wii's.
360 has the best chance at overtaking Wii in any market, as it gets close in the US now. PS3 could end up in the same ballpark in the EU, but it won't overtake it.
