In all seriousness, number 1 is going to happen on Wii U eventually (they've spoken of it coming in a firmware update), the question is how soon

I don't believe they are willing to let games be portable between systems. Your game, digital or CD needs to be downloadable and playable on any Wii U. Your VC and Wiiware purchases need to be playable on any hardware that can support it - 3DS can clearly emulate SNES and earlier games.

Yes, launching NSMB U first with more content is a good sign. But they are not giving it close to the Galaxy or Skyward treatment. The graphics and especially music are recycled. And they seem to think Nintendo Land is the key game like Wii Sports was, when NSMB U will sell more and retain value longer.

That article was horrible sorry but it's true .

Could you explain why? Are the points he has made wrong?

First paragraph ....l that kinect Fake talk with casual woman was horrible most casuals I known returned there knectabbecause how broken it is. Plus she didn't want Mario .....ok so Mario kart should be replaced with motion games for casuals. What about galaxy?

"’s bizarre direction (“everything must be in 3d! Everything!”). No one trusts Nintendo today. Would you buy digital content from Nintendo? Would you invest heavily in a Nintendo console? Nintendo is giving us no reasons to do so. And no one expects classic games to come from Nintendo anymore. 2d Mario players are depressed. I don’t see the 3d Mario or Zelda fans excited either"

do I even need to respond to how stupid and wrong this?

is this guy out touch with reality?

Seems like he stuck in his PC world and just wanted to write an article about doom Nintendo based on horrible logic and baseless points.

Number one reason: he does realize Sony and mircosoft do the same right? I haven't met one person who complained about this and does he know you can transfer from DS to 3ds?

Number two reason: he does realize inflation and that video as an argument was brain hurting bad. His argument against the gamepad is really bad and could be replaced with wii motion controls which should fail by argument. Changing the way you game can be used to make new experiences and keep things fresh it says more for Nintendo then against. 3d Mario and Zelda bring in the hardcore base and have to have big budgets to bring in people that actually like games. Nintendo gamers have to have a game that the can say I have wiiu for THAT game. 2d Mario and wii sports are games but they will never be the game that shows you who Nintendo is. Nintendo has honor and to make a half-butt zelda game because oh wii sports sell better would kill there hardcore fanbase. History has shown that casuals are come and go but the hardcore stay. 3d Mario is one of best games this gen and to the developers in Nintendo would be wasted if they just made wii sports AAA and Mario just AA. I personally would just sell my wiiu righ now if they did that. Btw he said they don't bring in the money with 17 million from galaxy series and gave a good image for Nintendo. Sounds like this guy just wants a casual Nintendo system that doesn't please the core only just cares for casuals.

Number 3:"Mario was cool again and no longer the joke he became during the N64 "

nuff said. Obvious idiot is obvious.

number 4: wii remote nuff said.

but to add thanks for saying apple because the apple iPhone practice is great for there custumors with constant small upgrades for higher prices every year. Good stuff.

number 5:is there a point to this? Oh btw Nintendo don't spend money on that game it doesn't sell good! :)

Number 6/7:the guy contradicts himself because he admits Netflix was a big selling point but down plays with apple lol. Fanboy of apple I see.

i bet most people were saying that Netflix would be pointless on wii but turn out to big selling point many use even today.

Btw does this guy have a fact that no one cares for wii tv as on miiverse I see many people love it.

"the crappy Japanese cute OS aesthetic. Allow us to turn it off. Just allow us to have options."

just hateful person. Mii were popular with wii. Cry moar about your personal taste and not reality.

"Something like Miiverse alone makes me not want to buy the Wii U."

you would probably be banned for being hateful and can't take positive vibe of it. Plus it sounds social and we know this person hates that.

everyone I know loves the miiverse this person is out of touch with wiiu or even wii for that matter.

number 8: this guy is flat out of touch with Nintendo fanbase.

number 9:just gets worst the level of stupidity.

number 10:at this point I don't even care.

Conclusion: horrible

I'd say the most important part is to ensure indie support on the e-shop more than the competition, and if they can bring their online service to Steam level, then it'd be a much better gaming machine.

- Create a true account system - Yes, I am pretty sure this is on the way as it is one of the concerns about their download program. They know this is holding users back and that people want security in their downloads.

- Sell hardware, at a profit, for a low price- Yes, Nintendo will get there. I just hope that we won't see such a price hold like the Wii had. Systems in general need to be more dynamic in how they handle pricing.

- Re-evaluate who the actual flagship games are.- Every company needs to do this. I think Nintendo has a pretty good idea already though. It is pretty easy to see Mario, Wii Series, Pokemon, Smash, and Zelda make up their top sales though. Donkey Kong possibly in that list as well.

- Make a New Legend of Zelda.- Every Nintendo fan wants this. To be honest I think we as gamers need to be more patient. New Zeldas are always on the way there is no reason for us to demand them.

- Profitability should be the aim, not innovation.- Nintendo is using innovation to compete in order to be profitable. I think that they have been a little too focus on innovation as of lately.

- Abandon Non-Gaming uses of the console- I disagree Miiverse and TV are good ways of increasing the time share spent on consoles instead of other media devices.

- Reduce the focus on 3D titles and technology- I think it was a little too soon for 3D. Hopefully in the next system revision we can get a more practical viewing window. I really think 3D could be used well and at the very least add some depth.

- Embrace online multiplayer- Certainly, they need to be more up to date with how they handle online games. Leadboards, ranked and unranked that kind of thing.

- Make more small games instead of large games.- This is true of the industry itself.

What Nintendo needs to really do my opinion

Improve their online game modes

Embrace DLC

Use the mod and fan game communities as a way to make cheap downloadable games.

Use app games as a way to advertise your console and console games

Create a true gaming tablet that is compatible with the Wii U

Make virtual console and Wiiware prices more dynamic allow games to be sold for a dollar if they can make money it isn't a slap in the face to your old gameboy and NES games, it is just what consumers are willing to pay.

Work to create Wii U and 3DS ecosystem. I know it didn't work with the N64 or gamecube but with wireless technology it should be much more feasible.

Allow user generated content for staple games such as Mario, Mario Kart, Pokemon, Wii series, Donkey Kong and so on

Have online classes and workout with Wii Fit and Wii Music

Lower the Price of Wii U and 3DS games. Bring 3DS back down to 30 and Wii to 50. You allow consumer so much more purchasing power at those prices. Not to mention you undercut the competition.

Bundle every 3DS with already download Pilot Wings and Steel Diver.

Make Downloadable games slightly cheaper than retail. Not to much though because you don't want to lose your retail partners. At the very least drop the price when retailers do. This will help against the used market and keep prices fair.

Implement player's choice system early in your systems life.

95% of gamers don't know they are noobs, the 5% who do won't be noobs for long

Indie games have their own damn section on e-shop, and it's at the top (probably because it's the souce of all of the eshop digital only titles, but still). Which is pretty neat that they did that.

Anyway the forum seems to love to bring up Sean Malstorm a lot... :/ I don't think he really has the proper judgment of Nintendo's future if he doesn't even have a Wii U... Or at least understand the features enough... For example, the Miiverse integration is interesting and he's bashing on it. I haven't seen much complaints besides the beginning where it was much more slow due to the servers. A Legend of Zelda game takes time to make, and I think a 3D Mario (which he hates btw) is long overdue.

Among other things... I'll like to point out this quote from one of his blog posts...

There’s nothing new with the Wii U though. How is the Wii U giving us any different experience found on connected devices from smartphones, tablets, or even the DS?

I don't think I have the time or energy to refute every misinformed and hysterical statement in this article. Every other sentence is just plain wrong.

The author has some good points about online functionality and system accounts, but those are buried under an avalanche of wrong ideas, unsubstantiated claims, and "evidence" that is more anecdote than anything else.

The most amusement part of Malstrom's post is the video where families have therapy session because kids are being dependant on Nintendo :D There's no problem in life you cannot solve with a therapy session.

True account system and no limits on demos Please.

So, I haven't read the actual article yet, but by the way people responed and that list from the OP just says it all: this guy is obviously a moron and don't understand much things gaming.

I'll make a longer post later... Does anyone listen to this stupid son of a bitch?! It's like he doesn't understand what it means to be competative

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Did you know that Nintendo isn't really responsible for that?  The 3DS has a demo with no limits.  I'm thinking the limits put on the demos are set by developers.
