Oh wow, so Uncharted 3 the most bundled game on the HD consoles ever might pass Gears of War 3's lifetime sales? Not impressive at all. Don't you people understand that Uncharted 3 has been given away for free with bundles since it's launch? Look at it's puny first week, look at how tiny the largest fan pages/ groups for the game are, Uncharted 3 isn't a popular or beloved game. It depends heavily on bundles.

Uncharted 3 has been bundled massively since launch and has just had a massive boost due to the black Friday deals AND it's going to have its second Xmas holidays bundle. Uncharted doesn't have a lot of fans and it isn't very popular, it only appears so because of the sheer amount that it is bundled. If the Uncharted games weren't bundled from heaven to hell then the franchise wouldn't be bigger than any of Sony's other middling franchises like Killzone, Resistance, Infamous etc.

Gears of War 3 is a much more popular and profitable game, it wasn't bundled at all outside of the limited edition console which people bought specifically for Gears of War 3 and according to what EPIC have said Gears of War 3 is being massively under-tracked. Also don't forget Gears of War 3 is available digitally.

Celebrate the most bundled game of the HD console generation all you want Sony fans, Sony themselves know that without mass bundling Uncharted would be nothing.

So Uncharted 3 will win!

But basically, Uncharted 3 has sold more all year. Gears 3 is getting a sequel (well prequel) in a few months time, which I would guess would kill any extra sales for Gears, since on number 4, there won't be many people who haven't played the previous games who are suddenly now interested

But Gears of War is a "massive" franchise. Uncharted is just a tiny Sony franchise.

Wait, where is it $20 more expensive? On Amazon the Slims (not Super Slim) are the same price (PS3 320GB is $299 while the Uncharted bundle is $299). There's the 250GB GOTY bundle Super Slim that's $270 but I don't see a standard 250GB Super Slim priced anywhere (I imagine it's $250 from what you said).

This thread is amazing, granted Uncharted 3 without bundle would have taken longer to pass Gears, but it was going to pass it anyway, now on a faster paste.

It always sold well and its bundles sold well even though they are 20$ extra.

Gears as a franchise hit 19M as of the end of September according to the latest report (Released in November) and that report did not disclose shipment numbers for Gears 3. They mentioned that Gears 3 moved 3M at launch (Sold). We have as a franchise Gears sitting at 18.07.

Uncharted franchise was reported at 17.3M as of April 12th, 2012, with Uncharted 3 shipping 3.8M at launch. VGC now has it at 15.82M 6-1/2 months later. It is obvious that since April they shipped more and even more so since Uncharted 3 is bundled now for the holidays.

3M sold in first week for Gears and 3.8M shipped at launch is all we have for either. Only going by total shipments for each franchise can we even begin to determine if either is undertracked and the argument looks to be way in Uncharted's favor. It is even arguable now that the Uncharted franchise has now outshipped and/or even outsold the Gears franchise.

If there is a different report that has what Gears 3 has shipped, could you please link me?

Edit - Reading the linked Joystiq article it mentions that Gears 1 + 2 are said to have shipped over 12M combined, leaving 6-7M shipped for Gears 3. I would say it is probably ~6.3-6.5M or so, so our numbers while possibly undertracked, are probably not by much. Maybe a couple hundred thousand if we aren't to believe 1M copies on shelves WW.

That of course would lend even more argument in favor of Uncharted though.

was uncharted 3 bundled this black friday. i only saw the ps3 bundle with uncharted 1 and 2
