Indeed it is.  It'll probably overtake it by the first week of December.

Congrats to 3DS. This is kind of bittersweet because GCN deserved so much better. I never realized how poorly it sold until long after, since all my friends at the time owned one -- I naturally assumed it was owned by many more.

It's the only system I bought three times: the first at launch; the second for $100 with the Zelda collector's disc and game case; the third for $50 because, well, it was only $50 :) I ended up gifting that GCN to my niece and nephew.

It was a great little console. Not as good as PS2, but much better than its 21 million lifetime sales indicate.

The gamecube is prob my favorite nintendo console too bad it didn't do better.

its not really surprising the 3ds has sold as many as it has, the worlds population keeps growing as does the number of countries where the device is sold but this is the case with all consoles though.

Congratulations on beating the lamest home console from a major company since the Atari 5200.
