Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Metal Gear Solid 4 finally coming to 360 ?

That story is running the internet since the game was launched and that was in 2008. I don't believe it would be an easy port, since it was not made to be a multiplat since the beginning. It's a 27 GB game, that's just one problem to deal. Besides that, they took 4 years to release a simple trophy patch and discontinued the online portion of the game, so a port looks a little to much.

You definitively should get it. It's superb.

MSX, NES, GBC, PSX, PC, PS2, PSP, GCN, XBOX, PS3, 360, 3DS...

Those are the platforms that Konami has released various versions of Metal Gear on or plan to. MGS is not an exclusive franchise to anything. Nothing about MGS4 couldn't be ported to Xbox 360. If MGS4 doesn't come to 360 you can bet it will be part of a collection next gen for everything.

The hour and a half of full-motion video could not.  That was the only aspect of MGS4 that could not fit on a DVD but could fit on a Blu-Ray disc.

I would buy it on the 360. But how big is it again? 50 gigs? I think the new 360 discs are only 8 gigs. So in It'ts current state thats like 6 .5 discs... lol.

My guess is they could compress the audio and lower the CGI like in FFX13 where the cutscenes were slightly less pretty and fit it onto 3 discs.

MGS4 has no CGI.

If there is someone who wants to play this game still can't afford a ps3, the 360 version will come with many discs yes.

Correct, it has no CGI, but it does use full-motion video (FMV) for cutscenes, not real-time video.

The difference:  Cutscenes are videos created from the scene rendered from the in-game engine.  CGI would be scenes specifically rendered and recorded at a higher fidelity.

I played it for 3 hours then never went back, the gameplay is dated Imo (this was in 2010). I really don't see it selling if they did port it. I still own it btw so may give it another go if we get a barren spell (unlikely for Me given I've started Skyrim last week though).

Even that could be compressed. The game could span 2 discs for a total of 16gb of space. All I'm saying is that MGS4 doesn't do anything that the Xbox 360 can't.

Well I'd play it if it came. Always one I wanted to play for the sake of completion. And, as crazy as it sounds, I've avoided pretty much all spoilers still to this date.

Disappointing to still see this subject bring up such animosity in people here ...

Going to have to be a big case to accommodate all those discs.

4 1/2 discs for the cut scenes and the rest for game play.

MGS4, intellectual material for the non-intellect who swears blind they're an intellect.

It's one of my guilty pleasures.

Can I get some game play with my cut scenes?

If that was a knock on MGS4, it was rather weak.

MGS4 is a stellar game, even 4 years after it's release. Sure, much of it (not most of it) was like watching a movie. But, a really cool action movie at that. You had to really pay attention as there was never a dull moment in the story.
