Congrats to MS. While it is down from last year, it's still a damn good number. And even if the PS3 is lower by 100k-200k, I hope they announce their numbers.

Microsoft and Sega had triggers on the controller first, and Sony copied that. "Sony is walking out of this gen loaded with games"? What loads of games are you talking about? Last I checked their weren't a whole lot of good games on PS3.

Well I'll keep this list to just exclusives to counter you *cracks neck*

Ratchet and Clank Future (3 games), Thatgamecompany's exclusives (3 games), Uncharted (3 games), Resistance (3 games), LBP (2 games), Infamous (2 games), Heavenly Sword, MGS4, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, and Warhawk.

Let's compare to 360

Halo (4 games), Gears (3 games), Forza (4 games), Fable (2 games), L4D (2 games).

Gee that looks awfully favorable towards Sony.

You also forogot to mention KIllZone(2 game) and gran Turismo. Its obvious that when you have that many exclusives and variety, you will not be selling as much as limited offering by Microsoft. Microsoft has been milking and milking 360 gamers this generation with Halo/Fable combo in one year, and Gears and Forza the year after.

My god can't believe I forgot those considering GT is the best selling one, but yeah I feel like PS has positioned itself for better long term success with all these franchises.  It has a much more diverse offering and with LoU, Beyond, GoW, Sly, and Puppeteer next year the gap will only increase quality exclusive wise.

The Playstion (first as an intended partnership with Nintendo, then solo) brand was made and developed to mainstream new media and harware - CD's, DVD's, Blu-Ray's. It was very successful in this goal. The XBox (first as a partnership with SEGA) brand was made to push the gaming and media capabilities of PC's and prevent a different option from becoming a central computing hub in the home. In particular, in the very late 90's Microsoft was concerned with the stagnation of PC advancement. Microsoft makes most of it's money on new PC purchases with new pre-installed Windows, so a slowing in tech advancement means less new PC's purcahsed. The XBox was designed to push game and multimedia limits which would in turn push PC game and multimedia expectations of consumers, encouraging them to buy new machines. It has always been OK at Microsoft if XBox loses money, as long as it's doing it's job of pushing PC sales.

Developing game software has always been secondary for Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo is the only true "games" hardware company left, but all three just want our money in one way or another.

But great sales for 360, wii and DS, systems that pretty much anyone who wants one already has it!!

Xbox was at first intended to be a partnership with Sega? Nonsense for starters.

The Sony bit is well known and been verified for over 15 years.

The rest is just opinion with a few small well known facts inbetween to give the opinion some credibility.

When they were boasting I was pretty young. I dont remember that let alone being on a site like this. When they were on top E3 wasnt really the big thing.

 

E3 was even bigger then than it is now. Go back and read all the BS Sony boasted about before the PS3 launch. Read virtually anything Jack Tretton says.

The notion that Sony doesn't boast is just incredible. They simply don't have much to boast over anymore.
