Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Loading times seem to be more bearable on Wii U

I thought it would be cool to talk about some games for a change.

So, I have preordered Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and played some of the game with a friend on his PS3. One thing that really upsets me are the long loading times the game has before every single race. So I did some investigating and found that the Wii U Version of the game has significantly lower loading times.

From one blackscreen to the other, the Wii U version needs about 11 seconds to load (0:11-0:22) while the 360 version needs about 24 seconds (3:20-3:44).

Now the comparison is between 2 different modes (race vs. boost rush) but I don't think that the result is too heavily skewed due to this. But maybe I'm wrong. I for one am pleased with this, although 11 seconds is still a little much for my taste. What do you think?

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

It has more ram..

much more RAM so that should be obvious.

It's BluRay drive is faster than PS3's BluRay drive.

A good port!? How dare you say something like that. We all know third parties make lazy games for the Wii U

More RAM and a faster disc drive should also help with texture pop in and yet other multiplat games have managed to fuck this up. I just have a hard time right now to take things for granted that SHOULD obviously be better.

I still find it incredible nintendo fans are actually gloating over a console that is so far showing to be slightly more powerful than the 360....... when the 360 is 7 years going onto 8 years old..

Yes, a BluRay drive.

that doesn't play blu ray discs..

The WiiU's Discs aren't blu-ray. They're just WiiU proprietary discs and they have a read speed of 22.5MB/s. PS3's blu-rays are 9MB/s. Xbox360 varies from 7-15MB/s depending on number of layers and disc drive. Fast load times are to be expected with Nintendo consoles. That's one thing they've always tried to keep down.

8th gen predictions. (made early 2014)
PS4: 60-65m
WiiU: 30-35m
X1: 30-35m
3DS: 80-85m
PSV: 15-20m
