I wonder about you haha I played the beta and it was rather bad.  The problem it had was it felt floaty like in LBP for starters.  The second issue is the karts felt super slow.  Third was the items were really weird and out of control People got the stupid glove non stop in it.  Then it was a comlete lag fest which is understandable since it was a beta buit over all was a very eh game.  It wasnt horrible but it wasnt good either.  Just my opinion but I think ModNation Racers was much much better.  I love that game.

P.S. My prediction was right about its metacritic.  Next is PSABR :P

I've been playing it for about a week now and I'm really enjoying it. (Though I am a huge LBP fan, so the chances of me not liking it were slim). I can see why people think the karts are too slow but it's not a deal breaker for me. But I don't get the complaints about weapons being overpowered and such, I've found I get screwed over by weapons much, much less than in Mario Kart.

Also the customisation tools far surpass Modnation's (Which I found to be lacklustre). For example the other day I was playing a Star Fox style space shooter in the community levels. Having the power of the LBP tools in 3D space really does open up a lot of possibilities for people who enjoyed making things in the other LittleBigPlanet games.

My main issue with the game is that the quality of the campaign levels can be a bit hit or miss. Some tracks feel a bit empty while others are awesome. And there's one side mini game where you control a robot dinosaur and you have to stomp trucks in a city, which is probably one of the worst levels I've played in a game in quite some time. However it does point out the game's biggest strength (in my opinion), which is that there's a lot more variety then any other kart racing game I've ever played.

Can't say I'm surprised by the sales though. There never seemed to be any hype behind it. Plus I knew it had done bad when I was ending up in the top 500 in the global leaderboard for every level. (I'm not THAT good :P). I was hoping for a better critical reception for this though.

To be honest, I prefer ModNation. I like what they have done as far as game modes, weapons and the like, but for customization purposes MNR was far more versatile. Have you seen the costumes ppl were making? Ridiculously advanced stuff out there. They thought if they slapped the LBP name on it it might do better. Yet they released it at a terrible time, with little hype or advertising. MNR didn't sell millions but it did decent enough, and the only gripe anyone ever had with it were those load times. All they had to do was make a sequel with better load times, presto...I would have bought it.

You can blame the sales on MKWii. Them casualz still buying that 4 years old game at full (near) price.

I agree. I haven't played LBP Karting at all but from the looks of it, it doesn't look like a good Kart racer. Not too fond of the original LBP games either...

I did however play the Modnation Racers demo. It was amazing. I don't know why I didn't buy it.

Gives the illusion of the game being new. It's why  New Super Mario Bros sold so much. It has "new" in teh title.

Sony has put itself in something of a conundrum; through almost exclusively targeting the "hardcore" they have attracted an audience that isn't very receptive to their attempts to appeal to casual audiences, while the actual casual players are more at home on the Wii and 360 and so aren't likely to jump ship for LBP Karting when they already have Mario Kart.

I doubt if the game is still active online but it was good when it first came out.  Peoples biggest complaints were load times and the AI which neither one bothered me.  I was expecting a lot since the same people are making LBPK (United Front)

You can buy it at a variety of places for $25 on Black Friday. This extreme sale might affect current sales.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I loved the first 2 LBP games, but this one just seemed all over the place. Not really interested in it.
