Forums - Gaming Discussion - The most successful peripheral of all time: Kinect vs. Wii Balance Board

Which team are you on?

Team Balance Board 70 55.56%

Team Kinect 31 24.60%

Playstation Move (aka: See results) 24 19.05%

Total:125

They dropped the price, and you might be able to get a used one.

I have the launch title Fitness Evolved, but haven't been able to play it much due to an injury.  I actually like the workouts on the Biggest Loser better - cause I could do them and it had more variety.  But I hear the Fitness Evolved 2012 one is improved and I am not sure if there is a 2013 Fitness Evolved.

I find a couple of the games in Adventures sweat worthy.

I get a good sweat up playing Powerup Heroes. But I seem to be the only one, and you can get that very inexpensively.  It is repetitive, but really fun once in a while.

And try the demos of Fable the Journey and Kinect Star Wars.

And since you already have a Wii I really like the sword fighting game in Sports Resort.

While Dance Central 3 got a 10, Kinect Nike got a 4 out of 10 which was rather dissapointing.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

I have both. I have enjoy my Wii Balance Board - and the first time I got to fly on a back of a Banche and shoot at a Helicopter ala Camer's Avatar it was quite amazing. And Wii Fit Plus, it definitely a needed improvement over the original Wii Fit. It's is an interesting add.

But I have to go with Kinect. It effects improvements on so many things - even Skyrim is improved. I see it as a revolutionary device - the augmented reality, voice and movement recognition. It is just a different league all together.

And for a workout enhancer Kinect beats Wii Fit. The board can teach you some interesting aspects about your balance and where you hold your weight. But it requires you to adapt to it - not jumping, or hard steps. While Kinect will use what you do naturally.

I'm Team Kinect for the Revolution!

@ Bolded. Not sure about this. Ive lost 4 kg just using wii fit and the balance board.  Not joking here. I went from 67 kg to 63kg. In about 6 weeks. Most kinect games focus on aerobics which is still great. But the muscle training, yoga and the hulu loop games in wii fit are fantastic if u want to loose weight.

In the other hand Kinect is much more diverse than the balance board.

I have to say Balance board. It has sold more and i think it is more influential than the kinect.

Congratulations on the weight loss!  Good for you.  Yes, the board is really neat for balance.  But it has been on the market much longer.

Do you have a Kinect?  The yoga in it is actually better (in say the Biggest Loser).  Yourshape Fitnesses Evolved(s) and Dance games are better for areobics.  You really aught to get it if you want to try some variety.

But still one of my old favorte workout games (areobic) is Your Shape - which doesn't use Kinect or a Ballance Board.  It just makes you a differnt routine every day depending on what criteria you give it.  It's is an excellent workout game (like workout videos.)

Man, I got Your Shape Fitness pretty cheap, early in the life of my Kinect.  I think I'm in decent shape but that game made me sore.  That game doesn't play around.

Kinect because the balance board never had exclusive games like kinect does

great thread - and thanks for letting people vote for the Move (allowing us all to witness the power of denial)

I have all three peripherals, and my personal order of popularity is
PS Move > Kinect > Wii Balance Board

That order is primarily based on how useful/versatile I find them as a gaming device. I imagine all types of videogames I can think of, and for each game, I consider what my input device of choice would be, what peripheral would give me the best experience: a classic controller, the Wii balance board, Kinect or PS Move.

I consider the balance board the least useful. I think I would only choose it for games like Snowboarding, Skiing, Skateboarding - a tiny selection of sports/games where balance is indeed a/the critical factor.

Kinect's strength on the other hand are games where full body (especially legs) tracking is very important while accuracy and fast response isn't. For example dance and fitness games - for these two types of games I seriously believe Kinect to be THE perfect solution, I think for these games there'll never be a better type of input device.

PS Move would be my overall winner because I consider it the most versatile solution. (For the same reason, I would also place the Wii Remote above the other two peripherals) And I guess that's also the reason why this is the peripheral that I spent by far the most time with. I've spent probably 5-10 times more time with PS Move than with the other two peripherals combined.

PS Move is the reason I'm getting Cod Black Ops 2.  I used move with Killzone 3 (loved the motion controls but hated the game).  I have to agree with you that Move is the best functioning device of the three in the poll.  I've never tried a Balance Board, though.  At the same time, I recognize that Kinect is probably the biggest commercial success--or it will be someday.

Black Ops 2 on PS3 has Move Support? Anyway Move has some advantages above Wiimote but is to laggy and slow for shooters.

BO2 on Wii U has Wiimote support, perhaps you should look at this version if you like Motion-Pointer-controls for shooters.

PS Move is on a 10 year plan, you wait it'll surpass them all, even PS2.

Maybe in the mean time there will be a good game for Kinect available too

Oh wait - Sorry this is Microsoft.
I can't stop enjoying the Uncharteds,Gears of Wars and other games i should be able to play FLUENT with perfect motion control exactly as they promised.
Especially DragonBall Kinect - I feel exactly like Son Goku - The pace, the perfect controls omg...It isn't like im just waving my hands around and do absolutely nothing like the Characters in the Anime.
Kinect definitely deserved all those sales

PS : Kinect is pretty decent if its used by PC Nerds. Its funny to see what some PC Gamers did with it and how useful they integrated it in some games. And of course on universities its fun to mess around with it.
But for gaming, combined with the promises they made at the E3 years ago and what games they delivered until now it is the biggest joke product in gaming.
And no one can justify it - NO ONE - They promised heaven on earth and yeah...Kinect Fable is so much better than a normal Fable right? It won't be on rails...NEVER..oh its on rails sry.
