Forums - Gaming Discussion - K/D Ratio Ruins multiplayer games

So to start off I am really good at games so maybe I'm just being highly critical of these type of players but I will go so far as to say these types of players are useless.  I feel like I just have a bunch of monkeys on my team, but for some reason I feel monkeys might actually help out more.  When I say Call of Duty players I'm specificly looking at players who camp corners and do nothing to help the team win the objective, they are just focused on there K/D ratio.  However, K/D ratio means nothing or very little, to me it's all about the win.

Last night I get on the Medal of Honor Warfighter Beta, and I swear I must have ran into a bunch of test monkeys last night because me and my friend was the team.  I just didn't understand how we can literally come in and dominate the entire game but still be losing.  The first game me and my partner combined went 62/12 k/D and both of us planted every bomb in the game to win it for us.  We barely won but we pulled out the W.  Well the next game we went combined 84/20 k/D yet somehow we lost!  Once again me and him had been defusing bombs left and right that game.  I think we had around 10 bomb defusals or something like that.  At the end of the game I got the apache gunner so me and him could use it.  The bomb was already placed so me and him got in the apache to clear the bomb site but we had to rely on our partners to defuse.  We killed everybody at the bombsite, no enemy was with in 100 yards.  Not a single team mate defused the bomb!  I just yelled out "MONKEYS!"  Because that is really the only way I can explain these types of players.

So my question is, am I the only one who notices these types of players or am I just highly critical of monkeys, umh I mean competive multiplayers.

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

lol Yes it sounds like I'm contradicting myself but we run around like crazy men planting bombs, defusing them, etc  Whatever the objective is we do them.  We were just basically doing them alone last night while the rest of out team was never in sight of us.

So you call campers "Call of Duty players"? That's ridiculous.
That's like calling all gamers fat slobs. It's a stereotype.

You're able to camp in ANY game. So why not call them Medal of Honor Warfighter noobs?

Because I have never noticed people so concerned with k/d until call of duty and killstreaks.  That was when I started noticing people camping corners instead of playing objectives.  Some games like Uncharted even take the K/D stat out now because people acts like it's the only thing that matters.  It takes the fun out of it competively

COD has team objectives but it's actually focused on the individual. It's more beneficial and looks better to other cod players when you've got a high K/D. This has it's negatives but also positives like it's pretty much impossible for one dude to drag the team down. If you want teamwork and complex strategy in your multiplayer than create or join a clan or play another game.

Well it's annoying that they've migrated to every game now.  It's funny getting them in well balanced skilled games like Halo, Gears of War, Counterstrike, etc  Then camping can't even help them. I always laugh at the snipers on Battlefield 3 sitting at spawn trying to kill people.  Then at the end of the game you see they got 1 kill the entire game haha

COD has one of the biggest player counts currently. You can literally find all kinds of players playing the game. Some do prefer going over k/d and objectives but that is because mostly people just play team deathmatch.

I am not up to speed on these game things on HD consoles, but dont you all have ways of communication on the PS3 and 360? Can you not tell your teamates what your plan is and that you just went into a giant helicopter to wipe out everyone and all they have to do is defuse bombs?

If they still do not listen then they probably just want to level up and get new stuff.

You can communicate but on Xbox live most people are in party chats now, in steam it's the same way.  PSN from what I've experienced a lot of people don't have mics.

Yeah don't even try playing domination or games like that on Call of Duty.  It's feeled with corners being camped out.  I love going into a room and you just have some one proned aiming at the door.
