Seems a bit much to me. Sony don't have a leg to stand on unless they have a contract in place to stop the actor who portrays "Kevin Butler" appearing in another commercial for a period of time.

Remember, it's the ACTOR who has appeard, not "Kevin Butler".

We don't know what are the contracts between Sony and the Kevin Butler actor so don't be too quick to judge.

That's the big question....

LOL, to say the least

Is there a detailed case file? Those linked give no information regarding the dispute, but it seems it is about intellectual property. I guess Sony thinks this actors ass belongs to them. Dis gon b gud.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Sigh... didn't bridgestone cut him out? Sony should have appreciated that.

The likely violation is using him in association with a Nintendo gaming console. Wonder if it will stick?

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

The fact that they have cut him out could well be a sign that Sony did have some kind of contract with the actor which he could be seen of being in breach of by appearing in those Bridgestone commercials.

Although if that was the case, why they're going after Bridgestone instead of him I do not know.

Seems kinda silly!

That's typical of law suits actually. How much could they gain from one guy compared to from Bridgestone? That is if they are looking for compensation. For an example if someone gets hurt at a university, or is illegally violated in some manner, that person can sue the people directly involved, their boss, all the way to the president of the University, then even the state if it is a public university. The liability is staggering.

What the...

It's just that simple.
