Forums - Website Topics - Sales tool needed: HW Cummulative chart + Aligned launch feature

To much acclaim, the sales tools have returned to VGChartz!

Yet as some have mentioned before, some tools are still needed. In this occurrence, the HW Cummulative chartz are needed, along with their aligned launch comparisons.

In the interim, the community is left compiling the numbers with tables themselves, and are at the mercy of the numbers whenever an update is made to the figures.

Here are some efforts by the community this far that I'm aware of:

Kowen's handheld aligned launch graphs

Spurge's 3DS to DS aligned launch analysis

DS (2004-2005) 486,391 ( Nov) 816,218 ( Dec) 141,999 ( Jan) 129,478 (Feb)
 147,647 ( Mar) 62,394 (Apr)

58,594 (May)

123,586 ( Jun) 81,920 (July)
98,893 (Aug) 178,646 (Sep) 145,379 (Oct) 351,935 (Nov) 1,083,532 (D
157,694 (Jan) 159,191 (Feb)

That is 4,223,497 DS handhelds sold in the first 16 months.

3DS (First 16 months) 350,918 (Mar) 220,021 (Apr) 94,459 (May) 102,090 (Jun)
75.118 (Jul) 234,387 (Aug) 293,443 (Sep) 249,784 (Oct) 842,397 (Nov)
1,644.736 (D 237,840 (Jan) 239,203 (Feb) 198,458 (Mar) 143,729 (Apr)
122,409 (May) 165,842 (Jun)

That is 5,214,834 3DS handhelds sold in the first 16 months.

Again, thanks ioi for the new tools. Our request at the moment is to get the cummulative HW figures available and to have the ability to align launches. This will help aleviate alot of the confusion in the threads, and keep people more knowledgeable. It's a good thing for the community and the reputation of the site.

Cheers,

I think he should only give away what he can. Because if he gives up too much investors and business that have paid for his VGchartz pro will wonder why they are paying for anything at all.

Last time I was told, there was no such business for vgchartz.

He gave us those tools because we needed them and nobody was paying for them. He can continue to deploy more and the day he wants to capitalize on them, he simply has to use a modular pay per tool model. Ie you need a tool, you pay 2 bucks for it.

Or paying by donation. He should do one or the other, I don't think pro worked.

I sign this.

The more tools the better.

I imagine there could be plenty of powerful analytical tools you could use with all this data that make a few graphs like the ones many of us enjoy using seem very simple and of limited value.

You cant line up launch dates though. Thats a big failing of the new system.

Agreed, having those two features back would make the graphing tools on par with those in the past IMO (the old ones will still have advantages over these, such as the ability to view individual PAL countries as well as compare one country/region with another on the same graph, but they are not particularly important features and the spiffy new interface more than makes up for their loss)

The software graphs are good as they are. (In fact as they have the new interface and you can compare 4 games instead of just 3, they are better than they have ever been)

More tools... better.

Again I approved that.

Why do you never ask me to approve your threads, HappyD? I thought I had your back? All this time watching your back for nothing!?

But yes, bumping this back to the top. The more sales tools, the better.

I totally want this too. As nice as having these tools is, they feel incomplete without those, I would say those are the most important features.

I'd also add they need to put back old consoles' sales like PS2. I want to be able to compare previous gens' sales with current ones.
