Not only that.. the emotion in Japanese voice acting is there. English ones seem reaaaallly plane and fake... and honestly cheap :P

I am not goign to have this line of conversation now

I am done

I will. English voice acting is often very good in western games. The problem with Japanese games is that if the English voice acters use the emotions that are used in the Japanese acting, it sounds unnatural for English speakers. The culture and use of emotions is very different, so it usually sound very weird. The worst is the English voice acting for kids and "Cutesy" girls for Japanese games. The behavior of kids and girls/women in Japan is so differant than the way it is in the west, it sounds odd and like nails on a chalkboard. Japanese girls often like to talk like little kids, in a high pitched sing-songy voice, and this does not translate well to western culture.

Also voice acting has a lot to do with the budget the localisation team has, which Nintendo has a big one, and the quality of the voice actors they hire.

I do not need to have voice acting in Zelda games. Did we not already have three failed Zelda games on the CD-I that had voice acting? Do we even have to mention the cartoon? "Well excuse Me Princess", has become one big mockery.
The problem with Zelda is making us sit there through countless cut scenes. Cut scenes that I do not want to partake in and training modes are both features in games that destroy my motivation to even play the game. I bought a save pack finally for the cut scenes and training modes alone on the N64, How many times did I sit through that opening Turok 2 cut scene before I just gave up on the game? Or how about Winback 64 where the training mode is a half hour long or more. I mention these games because that is when I first started to hate cut scenes and training modes. Do not make them mandatory. The Recent Zelda game is what finally really got people talking about voice acting in Zelda. This is the third or fourth thread on this matter since November of last year. Why? Because we had to sit through ( by the time the game was over with) hours of cut scenes and Fi being retarded.

No voice, and no more unskippable cut scenes!

I would love to have a game with the voice actors from that cartoon. That is the voice I always imagine for Link.

Please do. I read so much as it is. I play video games so I don't have to read. I wouldn't care if I had to read Link's part, that would be okay.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Voice acting would take away all the charm from the games. I actualy don't mind reading, I like imagining their voices in my head and I think it's charming how all the characters say noises like ''Oohh!'' or ''whoohoo!'' and ''yes!'' when we talk to them.

Also, I cant stress this enough, I love having the chance to freely hear every characters theme songs when they talk. Ghirahim, Groose and Fi all had great songs playing in the background everytime they talked, if they had voice acting I wouldn't be able to enjoy them as much since I would be concentrating on what they were saying.

So no, voice acting in zelda would suck. It's a 25 year old franchise and it should keep that retro feeling. Games doesnt have to be movies to be enjoyable. Do you wish you could press a play button on every book you bought so you could simply listen to the book instead of reading it?

What?! I can't hear you over all this awsome! - Pyrrhon (Kid Icarus:Uprising)

Final Ultimate Legendary Earth Power Super Max Justice Future Miracle Dream Beautiful Galaxy Big Bang Little Bang Sunrise Starlight Infinite Fabulous Totally Final Wonderful Arrow...FIRE! - Wonder-Red (The Wonderful101)

Quality voice acting will bring a dynamic a text simply cannot. The problem is most video game voice acting and writing is bad, bad writing is always made worse when spoken aloud.

But Ultimately I think voice acting for Other characters should be a definite. Its safe to say Link should not be voiced, but If they plan on doing something brave with his character then I'd be excited to see how that went down. The franchise needs to continue to take risk, simply changing the artstyle isn't enough for me. Skyward Sword was missing something IMO.

I would only enjoy the voice acting if it was top-notch and, of course, if Link would remain silent.

I do not think the franchise needs voice acting.

If it has voice acting, it should be in a nonsense language like ICO/Shadow of the Colossus, so that even after the voices are recorded the lines can be changed as the game demands.

Edit: No dialogue for Link, but that should go without saying.

Bingo. Just what I was gonna say

Hell no!
I'd only accept it if they talk in Hylian.

Everyone other than Link having a voice would be alright. It would just be really weird giving Link a voice. His grunts are enough. :3

Yes. It's about time. Although I'd prefer that even Link had a voice, I could easily live without it if all the NPCs were to have them.

Hearing Fi on SS was cringe worthy, nearly as much as the random blabber on Okami which literally made me give up the game for a week once.
