no i did not. I had a PS3 faulty on arrival, which turned to FUBAR. Had to have it replaced within the first week.

Well you need to find another retailer.

what does a retailer have anything to do with it as all PS3s come from the same factories.?  In anycase it is the biggest in the coutnry here.

Unlike you, I do not live in denial. Modern electronics are far more complex and can be faulty or fail. No big deal as you can replace them.

Not denying that, but the retailer does matter.

For instance, I'll never buy a game system from a place like Kmart because other stuff I bought from them broke within a few days of purchase and needed to be returned.

If you're from the US, please don't tell me you got it from walmart...

how about the free PSN+ games. if i just got a PS3 instead of buying a game I would get PSN+ and download the 12 free games, in those 12 a few are really good like little big planet.

This is due to a rising PS3 Brand popularity due to the following reasons (in no particular order):

-Rising Blu-ray popularity
-Existing and upcoming Retail exclusives
-Existing and upcoming PSN exclusives
-E3 Momentum
-Rising PS+ popularity, due to & along w/ current & upcoming deals
-GameStop's 160GB Summer Bundle (includes lots of free stuff)

And I'm sure there are other contributing factors that aren't right off the top of my head, as well. Consumer confidence has obviously been growing year over year for the Playstation brand, and it shows no sign of slowing down.

You forgot one big one: it's way cheaper than it used to be. And the fact you can get PS3 with a harddrive for only $50 more than the cheapest 360 doesn't hurt either.

Mmm I would guess it's because after all this time people are finally realizing PS3 has a lot to offer in the exclusive department? By people I mean those that have a 360 or Wii and want to try something else? At least that's what I've noticed with people I know. Most of them were in the 2007 mentality and like to pretend PS3 "has no games" for a long time. A lot of them have recently been getting into PS3's or at least realizing the PS3 has come a long way since launch.
