It would be nice to go back to seeing the avatar of the user who made the thread on the front page of the forum.

Also, a like button on what - on threads? |
On posts
Forum navigation is broken. I like the old way where i can browse forums from the top menu shortcuts. Now, I have to go to forum listings every time I need to switch forum.
ioi said: Also, a slightly different way of wording the question - what (if anything) in your opinion is broken with the current forums? |
That may not be fully up to you, but as many users have been complaining, rules regarding spamming should be far more strict. Moderation as a whole could get a change.

Edit: I support the idea of dumping most (if not all) of the subforums.

I still prefer the folder structure, however, You can reduce the number of subfolders . Neogaf has all in one and it is really annoying and not easy to find stuff.
I think the focus should be on making the website more user friendly and simple. One more example, when I am on forums and I click on home button on top of screen, it takes me to my profile page instead of main VGCHARTZ main web page.,

I'll stop now. ; )
Edit:
So we won't lose our game collections and ratings? It will simply be automatically moved somewhere else? I just want to be sure.
spurgeonryan said: ^ That is a relief. Why is it we cannot keep our database? It was functional and worked for this site. Game walls are like their own community here. Where the lurkers feel comfortable to post until they are ready for the big show, which are the forums. Also for database work. Taking away what people have done is like bulldozing over some ones painting that they worked hard on or Destroying other important things. Oliist would be spinning in his grave if he knew all his thousands of pieces of work was just dumped forever. Same with badges. Points might be evil, but badges are different. What is happening with all of that? Database should stay. We ha e had half a dozen threads on where is the database over the past six months. From the stand point of your busiest member, that needs to stay. |
Making a a game collection was one of the reasons I registered instead of becoming a lurker. I also like the gamerfication that was installed on theforums. Collecting badges is fun. Points are also pretty neat, but a big uncessarry. The forums are a pain to navigate and I normally stick to hot topics unless I'm posting a new thread.
All I want is for my games collection to be able to be listed in order of rating, so it's easier to adjust ratings. I take my game ratings very seriously.
Also, for the software sales on the front page, instead of just having the platform in black text, could they be coloured like they used to be (red for Playstation, green for Xbox, blue for Nintendo)? Once again, it's only something small but it was a nice touch.
