Instead of trying to make a better TV just take the next 5 years to produce HDTV they way they are now, which a plenty good enough. The PS4 should be all off the shelf parts instead of expensive proprietary designed. As for games, Sony really needs to stop buying up developers. It's not working. Having a ton of 1st party games means nothing if nobody buys them. Stick with a few of the best 1st party devs, sell off the rest, and move on. MS makes tons of money because they produce high quality 1st party games in less quantity and rely on 3rd party licensing for the rest. Oh and subscription online gaming. MS makes a killing on it and Sony can't afford not to charge for it next gen. I actually think it's good for Sony that they weren't on top this gen. The company had gotten cocky and made a lot of mistakes. Hopefully after being humbled they will learn their lesson and be smarter next gen. the Xbox brand is here to stay and Sony needs to stop ignoring that fact. They have real competition now and throwing money at all their problems clearly didn't work. |
Here we go again.
If PSN was what was breaking the bank accont they would've have started charging long ago. Seriously, stop believing the crap microsoft feeds you to rape your wallet. Microsoft doesnt want PSN to be free because that gives SONY an advantage over them, and their too greedy to make it free.
Do you see anyone else charging for the use of their online network? Does nintendo do it? steam? blizzard? anyone? No. Dont you think that is a mighty coincidence? Seriously, stop beeing manipulated by microsoft and its payroll analysts...

I think his main point was that Sony just buy up studios and that this is a costly way to go about things... it is... he's right.
They see a studio they like and buy them... then sit and watch them produce a game every 3 years (or worse). They have too many studios producing too many games of ok quality that just dont sell. Even Sony themselves acknowledged this recently.

Exactly. Makings games that don't sell is bad business. I think that's why we saw so few exclusives from Sony at E3 this year. I think they quitely canceled a bunch of games to save costs. Sadly Last Guardina may never see the light of day or at best will get sent over to PS4 like Ico switched from PSX to PS2. Maybe Sony learned their lesson and we will start hearing rumors of canceled games, closed studios, and consolidations. If Sony is smart, by the time the PS4 launches, their business model will look a lot more like MS's. Off the shelf parts, a few high quality devs, and monotisations. I also think it's time for Sony to get out of the handheld market and switch to tablets and smart Phones. The Galaxy S3 is more powerfull than a Vita. If Sony took the Vita, added a Phone to it and sold it int he same way that Samsung sells the Galaxy Note, (as a small tablet with phone built in), it could set the smart phone world on fire. People are tired of playing games on their phones without real controls and Sony could fix that with a Phone enabled Vita. They kind of tried it before, but it wasn't a full console.
And my point about charging for PSN wasn't that I want to pay for PSN. My point was that MS makes a killing charging for XBL so Sony would make money from charging for PSN. As a gamer I'd rather onling gaming be free on all consoles. But Sony is sinking and subsciption based online could help.
