Forums - PC - NVIDIA showcases the power of Kepler - Real-time Raytracing Tech Demo

There is no doubt that real-time raytracing and global illumination are ‘the future’ of gaming graphics. And we are happy – and astounded – to report that Nvidia has showcased a real-time raytracing tech demo at this year’s GTC 2012. The result of that implementation is sweet as hell, so be sure to check the following video. Reflections and refractions are as accurate as they can get and this tech demo shows what we can expect from next-generation graphics. Enjoy the video, courtesy of TheVerge.

Not bad.

The water effect is very impressive.

Did they said on which card (or cards) was that demo running?

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

PS3 does a good job too at ray tracing

Probably the unreleased GK110 "Big Kepler", since GK104 sucks for compute compared to Fermi.

If GK104's yields are any guide this one may never be released at all.

Wow nVidia. At the forefront.

Pretty cool. Would like to see some gameplay demos.

Thanks for answering.

If they have been able to do that with only 1 card (even if it's the GK110), it's quite an advance. Although it's still far from useful for games.

Well it did 4-5 years ago, but I havn't been impressed by a PS3 ray-tracing demo since. Plus Sony removed Linux support so it's not really possible any more.

I am still blown away by Intel's 2007 Demo

Tho this Nvidia demo is mind blowing especially mixed with the physics.

Dat water!

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

Ah nVidia, they always make some impressive tech demos, but they rarely can be done in games. hell even now there aren't too many games with character models that look as good as Dawn. Though the physics in this demo are amazing.
