Forums - PC - NVIDIA showcases the power of Kepler - Real-time Raytracing Tech Demo

"How do people attending a GPU Technology Conference not know what raytracing is?"

My thoughts exactly, they don't seem to realise how impressive it is.

Ah nVidia, they always make some impressive tech demos, but they rarely can be done in games. hell even now there aren't too many games with character models that look as good as Dawn. Though the physics in this demo are amazing.

Their tech demos usally show stuff that will be in games 5+ years in the future lol. I am still waiting to get true fluid simulation in games, That and the hair tech they did.

The closest I've seen was the skin demo, and that was because Naughty Dog tried really hard to match that skin shading for Uncharted 2.  They got decently close, and before I read the tech power point presentation for Uncharted 2, I noticed how good their skin shading was.  It didn't look like textures.  But other than that you're right their tech demos are way to advanced to be used in games.
