I believe (and really hope) that you're right about this. I mean, I was a big fan of Ken but he did make a lot of mistakes towards the end, and Kaz has done a massive around to turn those mistakes around. I really like him and hope he's got what it takes.
Part of the problem, at least how I see it at least, is how the market is now. Back in the PS2 era, there were what - 110 million PS2's, 20 million Xbox's and 20 million Gamecubes - it was an easy sell to convince third-party developers to make an exclusive (or continue as an exclusive from the PS1 era) Now, with around the same amount of 360's as PS3's, it's not as easy a sell to make. I think Sony have done exceptionally well with first-party exclusives this gen, but it doesn't look like it's really been enough. They could always pull the card of 'games sell more on PS3' which they do tend to for franchises like Final Fantasy or Tekken, but unfortunately those series aren't as big as they used to be.
Heck, we've even lost Insomniac to multi-plat recently, although time will tell how that works out - I can at least hope they continue making Ratchet and Clank games in the future.
"Consumer cares about what it does as opposed to what's in it, hence why their steep prices are a hard sell."
Sadly this is true too. I genuinely do believe Sony put more time, and effort into their products than any of their competitors, but that in turn has become a problem.
Ah well, from a gaming point of view it's not all bad - still a hugely profitable division I'm led to believe. I can't really imagine a future without a Sony console, they've been pretty much the only consoles I've ever owned up until this generation when I got a Wii. Good luck, Sony!
