Forums - Nintendo - Report – Nintendo looking at media partners for Wii U

VG247

Nintendo is aiming to bring new media partners onboard for Wii U, according to an AdWeekreport.

The piece (via MyNintendoNews) reports Nintendo met with a “a select number of top content companies,” including multiple cable providers and “web video producers” during CES last month.

US cable provider Comcast is mentioned in the story as one potential partner as a potential cable TV distributor.

One source added to the story on the talks: “This is very preliminary. It could go nowhere.”

Nintendo’s confirmed it’s to launch Wii U by this coming Christmas in all major markets.

Maybe we could hold hands and watch it together?

This is great for the USA, Japan or UK. But it's worthless for the rest of the regions, content is IP restricted due to emitting rights. I'd pay for a service that would let me watch British and Spanish TV from any country in Europe.

Sure! But I won't take responsibility for what happens next.

I don't watch much live TV either. Just the news, some series and the odd movie. But when you are abroad, sometimes you feel like watching/hearing that stuff and call it trash 30min later...

this will probably go no where. content providers are all dicks. comcast chief amongst them.

Wow excited the idea of watching a TV show on your tablet while your other family member plays a game or maybe watch three TV shows at once watching one on each tablet and one on the TV. Nintendo could do amazing things if they get the right content providers. Also I am guessing Nintendo Europe is looking into it for Europe as well. Nintendo in Japan probably locked down this kind of content months ago.
