Well actually, the article never said that. What it suggested that if Toshiba helped Nintendo to solve it supply issues, more people would buy Wiis and not PS3s as their second choice thus decreasing the sales of Blu-ray players. I agree, however, Nintendo is irrelevant here.

The HD DVD drive for the xbox was 200, making it cost the same or more then the PS3. So the price has nothing to do with it. If you wanted to watch HD movies on either, it cost you the same.

I think the market segment who decides to buy a PS3 because they can't find a Wii is extremely small.  Especially among those who already own 360s.

Say what? 360 is way closer to the PS3 then the Wii, so they didn't really take any potential 360 owners away.

I can see what they mean, but in the end it's winning a losing war. Both are being pushed to early which can eventually kill them. DVDs were made and were never really pushed. Higher income households could afford them, but most couldn't and many wanted to stay with reliable VHS. Over time, more people got them. Slowly, it caught on, and movie makers wanted to make more DVDs. The PS2 really helped in sparking the flame. It was really seen as a 2 in one deal, and was cheaper then an actual DVD player.

Blu ray was kind of killed by Sony pushing it heavly. With Movie maker now wanting more money, they are reluctant to continue Blu-Ray, and rather then pick it up as they go, will drop it now and leave it. HD-DVDs have had little push at all, and even the 360 doesn't push it that much.

LOL not everything is about nintendo. I seriously doubt that the 360 would do better compared to the ps3 if the wii didn't exist. And hd DVD was never winning. Sony really destroyed their chances by including bluray in the ps3. Their best chance was to drag it on until combo players were common. And no microsoft could not have made the 360 with default hd DVD drive. One year after the xbox launch Sony wasnt able to get enough blue lasers ms couldn't have done this 2005. And adding it later would be pointless. Its a console.
