Opinions come in different shapes and sizes. I would say the view expressed in the article was a lousy opinion. Opinions based on numbers and facts tend to be more robust. His wasn't, as a few numbers showed.

ALSO (added after post): If it's about the subjective feel of it, he either didn't  touch it yet, or is playing dumb because all the feedback we've gotten this far on it is that it is lightweight and fairly ergonomic (yes, I'm being conservative with the word fairly).

ATI Radeon 6770/Nvidia 550 graphics card as GPU. 2GB graphics card.
CPU Quad core with processors around 2.2Ghz to 3.0Ghz over clocked.
RAM: 8GB to 16GB.
HDD: 500GB to 750GB.

Microsoft Tablet as a controller and a rip off the Wii U tablet controller must be a lame attempt at an early April Fool's Day joke.

I hope thats true... its brings so many possibilities for gaming.

Microsoft launching this console at a loss in the current economic crisis would be pretty stupid. Launching the console at 500$ which if rumors are correct I could see the needed price to break even. 500$ would be suicide nobody would buy one.

Doesn't need to be $500, a $400 starting price is fine. They're making pretty good profits in the EDD now so they won't come close to Xbox/Xbox 360 losses again, that's with making a loss on 720. And yes MS can easily ride a couple of years of low EDD losses ... unquestionable.

Microsoft is playing into Nintendo's hands. Actually I think Nintendo showed the tablet controller so long in advance to get competitors to copy. Nintendo's biggest problem last generation was that major games couldn't be ported. But what if Nintendo could get its competitors to lower their graphical power. Get Microsoft and Sony to take the bait and release tablet controllers?

Nintendo did not reveal so much without purpose. They didn't reveal to much when they unveiled the Wiimote at THE purposely saying competitors would copy so they kept it secret as long as possible. I am betting Nintendo revealed as little as possible while giving competitors a vague idea of what they are dealing with.

I don't think we will know Nintendo WiiU's capabilities till E3 though I bet Nintendo will hold back at least one feature till launch. Microsoft will need to launch this winter if they are releasing a touch screen controller. If its features Microsoft is after Nintendo will slaughter them.

Microsoft cannot fight Nintendo on its home turf. PS Rol I am a Nintendo fan but MS is my second favorite company. So the makes me a Microsoft fan.

Your post comes across as you're letting your bias cloud your judgement. The whole tablet idea fits better with media/entertainment functionality than gaming. And I assure you, that is Microsofts turf not Nintendo's.

Whereas Sony outright copied Nintendo with the Move, MS took the idea and made it better (different) depending on your opinion. It was a success, not as big as Wii obviously. But if they do the same as WiiU it'll be vastly more appealing and once again make Nintendo's console look lacking and outdated (in terms of functionality funnily enough) without having a USP.

Kinect introduced the concept of your body movement controls the game action. A smart touch tablet controller would be a step backwards for Microsoft. Kinect as the main controller in the Next Box and being extended upon and included in every game. $500 million advertising blitz campaign by Microsoft to sell Kinect to the world. Wii U can keep its touch tablet. Microsoft has its highly successful Kinect, the best selling video game accessory of all time.

I hope untrue, I do not care for tablets or kinect and including either would put the price of consoles up stupidly high.

I agree, this kind of thing should be optional for people who don't want it. Those who want it pay a premium.

Why cause people to buy something they don't want?

I really hope not because we don't need more of these "___ is copying Nintendo!" arguments.

what arguement.  nintendo copied apple and that's a fact.

Not likely. What is likely is that Windows 8 Tablets and Windows Phones since they already can act as companion devices to Xbox 360 will be able to be used with the next Xbox. That screen shot looks like a HP Slate with a screen shot of the 360 Metro UI slapped on it.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

It is possible that Microsoft would take this approach but I would advise against it ...

I like the touch-screen controller idea and Nintendo's approach of using what seems like outdated components to keep costs down seems ideal, but I think that it is an awful idea to have multiple console manufacturers produce systems with tablet controllers.

While I think it would be a mistake to focus heavily on Kinect being that it is already on the market and many of the games that use it (probably) make it less popular with their existing base, it would make far more sense to focus on Kinect simply to be different from your competition.
