To be fair, its not like they are taking away resources from Japanese developments. They own Eidos now, so have loads of non-Japanese studios who are not going to make Japanese games
Their main studios are still working on something... at the moment Final Fantasy X HD, hopefully Versus, hopefully Type 0 for the Vita or just the West in general and fixing FF XIV, maybe even working on a non-FF game

SE Japan studios are currently working on
Chocobo Racing 3D (3DS)
Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3)
Final Fantasy XIV (PC, PS3)
Bravely Default: Flying Fairy (3DS)
Final Fantasy X HD (PS3, Vita)
Dragon Quest X (Wii, Wii U)
Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance (3DS)
Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3)
Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D (3DS)
And they probably have at least half a dozen unanounced projects including FF XV so they are busy cranking out stuff
vs
Sleeping Dogs (PC, 360, PS3)
Thief 4 (PC, 360, PS3)
Tomb Raider (PC, 360, PS3)
Hitman: Absolution (PC, 360, PS3)
Heroes of Ruin (3DS) n-Space game
Wakfu (PC) / Islands of Wakfu (XBLA)
Championship Manager: World of Football (Web)
Quantum Conundrum (PC, XBLA, PSN)
So roughly a 50/50 split, it's just more people care about the western games as most of tha Japanese ones are spinoffs for mobile and an HD make plus their biggest announced game still has no release date and has been announced for 6 years at this point. The western side at least keeps their games under 4 years dev time.
