A western-style game AGAIN? SquareEnix has nearly no Japanese game lined-up for the upcoming year, are they dropping that market? SquareEnix at E3 2012 is going to be horrible for JRPG fans...

Well, this is not their fault, and actually a good move. Activision dropped true crime, and square enix took over. Glad that happened.

Smart move from SE.. the game was almost finished before it was canned by Activision so this will be super cheap for them

Square-enix has been horrible for JRPG fans in general lol. They are most definitely near the bottom of the pile of Jrpg developers this generation. There doing western games isn't taking away from their internal development etc. Just new studios they have.

Oh and TT Makaveli, the game can't be called True Crime. Square don't own the True Crime name. Activision still do. Square attained the rights for this game as they saw potential in it. Honestly it's probably a smart move. True crime didn't have the best reputation and if this game can come out and be really good then they could establish their own franchise.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

I typically love Sandbox games, the only time I didn't like something in a sandbox game style was GTAIV when you constantly get called by someone to hang out.

Hey Niko, is your cousin Roman, you want to go bowling?

This is great news. Great.

To be fair, its not like they are taking away resources from Japanese developments. They own Eidos now, so have loads of non-Japanese studios who are not going to make Japanese games

Their main studios are still working on something... at the moment Final Fantasy X HD, hopefully Versus, hopefully Type 0 for the Vita or just the West in general and fixing FF XIV, maybe even working on a non-FF game

SE Japan studios are currently working on

Chocobo Racing 3D (3DS)

Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3)

Final Fantasy XIV (PC, PS3)

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy (3DS)

Final Fantasy X HD (PS3, Vita)

Dragon Quest X (Wii, Wii U)

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance (3DS)

Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3)

Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D (3DS)

And they probably have at least half a dozen unanounced projects including FF XV so they are busy cranking out stuff

vs

Sleeping Dogs (PC, 360, PS3)

Thief 4 (PC, 360, PS3)

Tomb Raider (PC, 360, PS3)

Hitman: Absolution (PC, 360, PS3)

Heroes of Ruin (3DS) n-Space game

Wakfu (PC) / Islands of Wakfu (XBLA)

Championship Manager: World of Football (Web)

Quantum Conundrum (PC, XBLA, PSN)

So roughly a 50/50 split, it's just more people care about the western games as most of tha Japanese ones are spinoffs for mobile and an HD make plus their biggest announced game still has no release date and has been announced for 6 years at this point. The western side at least keeps their games under 4 years dev time.
