Well I still can't whatever anyone is saying, my greater concern is that I have pre-ordered with GAME, and they don't seem to have any money to buy a Vita from Sony for me...
| pezus said: Admittedly, it has few rivals battling for our affections. There’s the Nintendo 3DS and, er, that’s it. Some might say that the Apple iPhone or iPod touch are valid competitors, but to compare it to an iOS device, in gaming terms, is to compare a Lamborghini to a Ford Ka, and anybody who tries will come across as an idiot. Of course, we’d all like it to have been cheaper at launch, but £230 for the Wi-Fi version (with a free 8GB memory card, if you pre-order a bundle through Amazon and retailers like it) is comparatively affordable against a highly-spec’ed Android or iOS device. Yes, they allow you to make calls, have better cameras, access the ‘net faster and more effectively, but they are no good for the kind of gaming that requires tactile response. And they cost anywhere up to £500. While you can buy an iPod touch for £170 and play simple casual games well, for only another £60 you can have a gaming powerhouse at your disposal. For actual games players, it’s a no brainer. God bless Gameloft, but playing an action game on a mobile phone touchscreen, with no tangible physical feedback, is no substitute for Uncharted. Where’s My Water? is fun, WipEout 2048 is on a different planet.

Thank you, someone who actually gets it. Stop comparing cheap ios games to full Vita games, the difference is of light years. This is a classic case of you get value for your money. How long can one keep playing angry birds or cut the rope, seriously?
Also I like the nod to gameloft for trying to emulate (rip-off) every other console game but playing an FPS on a touchscreen is just a feat probably better left unachieved.
While I do like their review and the games, the Vita is a bit too costly at this moment with the games and memory card you need (16GB is like £40 I think), so hopefully after a bit the price will be a bit more affordable.
I'm hyped again!
I'm gonna get a Vita and a 32GB card. The graphics, from the demo of Gravity Rush/Craze that I played wasn't really that much more impressive than my 3DS but I've been thinking about it and I'm still sold. I still carry my PSP with around 20 games saved on a 16mb Memory stick.
-I can just port those games over, quick and painlessly.
-I have enough devices for music so I won't need the Vita for that.
-I mainly use my PSP for movies. I HOPE that it's easy to put movies on the Vita or that thing can stay on the shelf. I hope it can play more formats, too. Converting a movie for the PSP is a huge headache.
-I'll probably buy multiplats and exclusives for the Vita and exclusives for my 3DS
I know it's a quality console. If I approach it with realistic expectations (some people really know how to over-hype things), I'll be happy with it.
Good and seemingly fair review. Complaints seemed grounded and fair as well. And yeah few comments, go figure. Those Nintendo fans are like friggin wild dogs with the Vita I tell ya. Never seen such a strong team effort on VGC to slander a console.
I agree wholeheartedly about the ridiculous comparisons to iOS devices.
I really want to get it on launch, and it's a day after my birthday (i think :P) but i get the feeling waiting till the holidays would be a better buy.
