Forums - Sony - Sony PlayStation Vita review - 4.5/5

I could get a vita; I'm in a position to do so if I wanted to, but I've discovered over the years of being a gamer (with expendable cash) that buying games and consoles at launch is not the smartest thing to do, I am specially talking about Sony products in the past 6 years.

I own a PS3, PSP, and a PSX. I also have a Sony Ericsson W810i which I still use as my primary phone. I don't own any Nintendo and Microsoft consoles. Never found them appealing to my taste.

So getting back to the Vita:

I'm not convinced that Sony is serious in making it succeed.
(My opinion from what I've seen) I get the feeling that Sony will not open up this machine completely for independent developers to really make it shine, and since (I truly believe the following) they do a half-ass job to optimize their own playstation products, Vita may become another PSP-Go or PSP. I also feel like they will ultimately not give it enough promotion to make it popular with mass-market. Why do I care? Because with mass appeal comes the demand to develop for the device.

I'll keep waiting to see if Sony is serious in making this device worth it to own. Right now, I rather not spend money on device that may not exist in the next 3 years. Waiting to buy has proven to be a wise course of action up to now, I'm certainly am not going to change my mind with so many unknowns.

Oh my. The Vita is doomed.

Reason: "It is to hardcore gamers what a Penny Black is to a philatelist."

Good points, but i blame SCEA, they sucked with PSP. Look at Japan and thats how you support a portable console. hell i think the European branch did a bit better. SCEA kinda blows, there not NOA bad, but close IMHO

Are you sure? You like the score of this review, so you give no second thought to why the PSV has never been compared to the 3DS in the games department (or in general), despite it being a lengthy and detailed writeup.

Im sure.

@bolded - please dont make up more shit, i havnt given any opinions on the review, other than i dont think the author is purposefuly being bias. Your first post was so full of  shit i just had to say something....you litereally made up stuff, or completely misread the article. So yeah thats that.

I didn't make stuff up. Just because I didn't copy-paste everything doesn't mean it wasn't in the article.

While you can buy an iPod touch for £170 and play simple casual games well, for only another £60 you can have a gaming powerhouse at your disposal.

There you go. That's a comparison between an iOS device and the PSV as gaming machines.

Give it a rest, the review wasn't biased, yea maybe he should of compaired it to 3DS more but he didn't. He reviewed the product in his hands and explained what he thought of it. You are clutching at straws to try and explain your point now it's looking slightly pathetic!

Its okay let him clutch at straws

@Rol yeah he does compare it to a iOS device there but if you read that within the contect its just to further demonstrate how ridiculous the comparison is...notice he gives an entire section to games, where he doesnt mention this.

While you can buy an iPod touch for £170 and play simple casual games well, for only another £60 you can have a gaming powerhouse at your disposal. For actual games players, it’s a no brainer. God bless Gameloft, but playing an action game on a mobile phone touchscreen, with no tangible physical feedback, is no substitute for Uncharted. Where’s My Water? is fun, WipEout 2048 is on a different planet.

You cant quote a one liner out of context, again just to prove your bias point. Notice the tone of this paragraph its almost like hes poking fun at the comparison...showing how ridiculous it actually is. And he is right.

Again im not saying the review is perfect...im just saying hes not being purposefully bias.

That isn't a straw, that's undeniable evidence that my original claim was justified.

The only thing that would be pathetic is if I still got attacked for making stuff up when I obviously didn't.

What the hell im not attacking you?

Edit: Your first post was a major attack on the bias of this review as well as how much of an idiot the author is, something you backed up with false statements. Now i call you out on it and you say im attacking you? Get real man.

Never claimed you made anything up at all. your quote is right there for all to see but you've taken it out of context he never claims the ipod to be a valid gaming platform to compare with. i just don't understand why your so angry about this!! your making mountains out of molehills

He's poking fun at iOS devices for their poor gaming capabilities. Nothing taken out of context here. This paragraph and the previous one about high end smartphones are all about making the PSV look like a good deal for "actual games players". But this would be the point where you draw a comparison with the 3DS, because an "actual games player" who is on the fence between the 3DS and PSV would like to know how these two devices compare and couldn't give a damn about a comparison to iOS devices, because they serve different purposes anyway.

"So, in a straight head to head with Nintendo’s eye-boggling peer - its default nemesis, if you like – we’d take the Vita every time - irrespective of the price difference."

There's your PSV 3DS comparison and the comparison with Ipod or ios devices was pretty much the same length, he didn't spend much time compairing PSV to any device, he mearly review the product

Okay. I give up. You are too far gone.

I know, I've read it. How does a sentence like the above refute that the reviewer is biased? It doesn't, rather it confirms it. In fact, the entire opening segment is a declaration of bias, so I don't know why anyone has a problem with me calling the reviewer biased.

"Let’s not beat around the bush; we like the PlayStation Vita, we like it a lot. In fact, we’re happy to say that we have never fallen for a handheld games console as much as we have the PS Vita. It is to hardcore gamers what a Penny Black is to a philatelist."

They said they liked it.................... what fanboys..... :/ does that mean that every review that praises a game is biased or anyone that praises hardware is biased have you not thought to yourself for one second that they might just have really liked it
