Forums - Sony Discussion - The Last Of Us’ Joel is “a violent thug, a brutal killer and a torturer”

I am very glad he's not the stereotypical nice-guy hero I was expecting.

So they're giving him a pair?!

Woot!

Sounds like my kind of man.

I'm not a fan of this kind of horse manure. Too bad it looked like such a good game.

Upsetting that people need to relate with “a violent thug, a brutal killer and a torturer” in order to be satisfied...

For the record, Kratos makes me sick with his violence.

I hope...

It's a harsh world they live in. I'm sure he kills/steals etc for a reason (to stay alive)

Post-apocalyptic kind of thing? I kind of understand... but like when my buddy was showing me GoW3, right. I thought it was really cool, up until Kratos starts massacering Poseidon (torture) and then the submerging of the surrounding area (with victims). He explained to me that it all needed to be done, but did he really need to torture him?

These are things that turn me right off. Were it not for that, I was gung-ho on the game :(

Why don't you wait until the game is out and then judge it.

No, it doesn't need to be done but Kratos is driven by hate. I think it's nice when we have a protagonist who isn't the typical goody two-shoes hero.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm not a gooddy two-shoes kind of guy either. I have yet to play UC (I hate having to say this), but Nathan Drake is my kind of guy. Look at Indiana Jones. The guy is a prick, yet he's the good guy. I think it's the right balance.

The way I see it, baddie-evilshoes (Kratos) and goodie two-shoes (Kid Icarus) is the same pulp. I know I shouldn't be raining on anyone's parade, so I'll let you guys have your fun. But thanks for taking a sec to answer bud, and taking a sec to see my view, I appreciate it P.

I can't wait for this game to come out. I heard it was PS3 exclusive because the Xbox graphics card couldn't handle it. Is this true?

Unless the article is spreading lies, I have no reason not to say "I don't want to play it". As I said, up until now I was looking forward to this. THIS is the kind of content I like seeing from Sony. Hollywood-esque, sometimes post apocaliptic. But when the hero is announced to be a torturer...

I'll still wait. Maybe he isn't that way in the game, maybe that's just his background story. OK. But for now it doesn't look promising to me.
