As this morning's Xbox 720 hardware rumour andthis afternoon's Wii U one weren't enough, new claims regarding Xbox 360's successor have hit the net.

According to Kotaku's industry sources, the next console from Microsoft will play Blu-ray discs, catching up with PS3 on the physical media front.

The report also claims the console may not play used games. The anti-used game system could in theory link a copy of a game to a specific Xbox Live account.

It further suggests that the new Xbox will ship with a second generation Kinect sensor featuring an on-board processor that allows it to better detect users' motions, and that Microsoft is considering launching its new hardware with a smaller controller than Xbox 360's.

V interesting if right. I think we should be able to have the ability to link accounts though, so if you want to lend it to a friend or play on another 360 you can.

While I could go with the Blu-Ray inclusion (If it actually has proper speed this time around), the used game blocking seems just a little far-fetched... It'd be a total kill for some peeps.

The Xbox 360 is my favourite console of this generation. They will not be getting my money if they include this asinine DRM feature.

Take this with a grain of salt, though--I remember the PS3 was originally rumoured to include similar DRM for disc-based games.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
