Online pass...thats wonderful.

Any word on jailbreaks? emulation? making it run MS DOS?

Hello World as a unsigned code program. Other than that, nothing else lol

Damn, I guess its still early.

Screw the online pass...We want other OS! Whats Gehotz doing these days?  :P

What's the fascination with OSs? how many systems running OSs do you need?

Running the actual OS isn't that interesting but some people find hacking fun. I found hacking my PS3 with 3.42 firmware more fun than playing most of the games on it at the time.

For portables, I mostly just want to reply old school emulator titles on the go so the day PSV gets a good SNES, Genesis, MAME and NEO GEO emulators is the day I buy it. Hope emulators dont have an "online pass"... :)

Okay 2 things confuse me about this

#1 Good SNES games? not to be funny but maybe it's time to move on with the times? SNES was awesome but seriously? It was God knows how long ago, since the SNES there have been hundreds of excellent games out and this is just the handhelds alone. Maybe it's time to just move with the times and embrace the new games. There were these consoles recently called the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox maybe it's time to advance? I've never understand people who buy a brand new console just so they can play their old collection. I can understand what the idea of having a unfied handheld to play all your "faves" but the whole point of a new console is to play new games. Exactly how will a touch pad or a gyroscope help with a SNES game? At no time does the game show off the skills of the handheld that you spent money on.

#2 Which brings me to my second point: You have a psp which does all that. why then are you keen to "upgrade" only to then go backwards and play the exact same SNES games via an emulator. To me, this seems like a waste of money.

lastly if you find hacking more fun than "playing most games" I'm gonna say you're playing all the wrong games...

You wouldnt understand unless you try it yourself. Playing the latest up to date games and old classics on the same package is pretty awesome especially if its on a portable.

Also a gamer should never "just move on" , a gamer should embrace all games, old and new. Along with that, not sure what you meant by "Its a waste of money", I doubt emulation is the main reason why anyone would buy a 3DS/PSVita since you can pretty much do it on the older portables and on a PC.

All 3 consoles (and I guess portables excluding NDS/PSP) is doing the same thing via their own download service (i.e. xbl, psn, vc) AND their charging you for it as well even though you can technically get the games for free in another way lawl or for cheaper online.

I once in a while do runs of a few SNES/GBA games just for kicks but never do I feel the need to forego modern day games because they were "so good". You say a gamer should embrace all games but from the sounds of things, Dis just wants to play old games over and over again, not to mention he claims he has more fun hacking than playing games...IMO if that's true, he needs to find better games or better yet, stop rehashing old games over and over again.

And also, Dis says that's the only reason he's going to buy a psv, just to hack it and replay SNES/genesis games...am I the only one who thinks that doesn't seem right?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

One day you will get it...or not. I can't explain to you why people replay older games.

I've owned every system ever made (Other than Neo Geo and Jaguar but those were covered with emulators and roms) and have done my share of gaming for a lifetime. I get as much enjoyment replaying classic games I've played before as most new AAA games...more enjoyment in lot of cases.

Your coment comes off as being very preachy and almost insulting, but I'm not in a mood to argue.

Does every thread need a damn exclamation point at the end of it? I'm sorry but this is unbearable, every other thread has an exclamation point that shouldn't be there. FFS

On topic: I don't see why this is such a huge problem, the industry is definitely moving this way. Multiplayer for big games isn't exactly the cheapest thing.

I don't even get what you guys are arguing about, but he has a point. Why the hell would you buy and hack a PS Vita just for a SNES emulator? Especially when you can already do that on a PSP.

I know what you mean though, I seem to get more enjoyment out of classics and emulators than I do out of a new game.

I wouldn't do it just to play a Snes emulator but replaying Zelda and Battletoads with the new gorgeus PSV oled screen sounds pretty good to me.

Maybe Vita can offer a Dreamcast emulator. Smooth n64 and PS1 emulation with enhanced graphics... Maybe even something like PS2 down the road. Homebrew scene is also of interest to me.

Sorry if I come across as insulting, that's never been the point of this. I guess I just don't understand it and we'll leave it at that.

Sorry again if I came across as insulting.

I thought you meant just SNES. That would be pretty cool actually, and even in the VIDEOS of the PS Vita being used, the screen looks amazing.

and here we go again online gaming has screwed up games in some form and heres that form

cant get any worst then this
honestly now how the heck would some one come about buying a game that is out of print without having to shell out 10-20 more dollars just to try to play a dead online game? lol
wow cant believe these people defend this

They can just get the digital copy...

If digital copies require an online pass, then you might as well get the physical copy. On the plus side games like Uncharted that are just solely single player won't suffer from this.

They don't, it's just misinformation due to a journalist who can't read a translation right.
