I wonder if the PS3/360 will hold this game back.

I doubt it will release on PS3 or XBox 360 TBH.

Will probably announce it for Wii U and once Sony and MS annouce their systems they'll reveal its coming to those as well.

I hope they don't announce it!
But if they do announce it, please for the love of GOD, DO NOT ANNOUNCE IT IN MICROSOFTS CONFERENCE.

With all the things they've done in the last few months, I wouldnt be surprised if they do it in MS conference during E3. After all...their trying to appeal to the Western hemisphere....xD

I wonder if this will affect on their re-development of FFXIV, honestly I feel like their rushing in on creating way too many gimmicky FF games.

Did FF XIII sales not teach Square Enix anything? the JRPG fans are on the PS3. Final Fantasy is a huge part of Playstation, stop giving Microsoft exclusives when their audience doesn't give a ****.

Oh no not the FFXII team...

It is inevitable. Just hope they make a game you like this time.

I liked FFXII but I don't think the franchise needs a FFXII-like game right now. In my opinion it needs to go back to its roots and have turn-based gameplay.

I agree, though they are making FF X HD at some point...

SE's just following all the others who are making HD ports (i.e. Ico HD, Jak HD and DMC HD etc).

If the game has any actual changes other than graphics I would get it for PS3, if not, I MIGHT get it for PSVita.

Well I really hope they don't make any changes, though the best possible thing would be a free PS Vita version with the PS3 version, and for your progress to carry across both

I was thinking about getting my first FF game... XIV-2...  Untill I saw this thread...

By the time it actually comes out we'll be full swing into PS4/720 life cycle

Oh, really?  That's good news, then.

What happened to Square (Enix)? They used to put out phenomenal games in rapid succession:

1987 - Final Fantasy
1988 - Final Fantasy II
1990 - Final Fantasy III
1991 - Final Fantasy IV
1992 - Final Fantasy V
1994 - Final Fantasy VI
1997 - Final Fantasy VII (longest wait to date)
1999 - Final Fantasy VIII
2000 - Final Fantasy IX
2001 - Final Fantasy X
2002 - Final Fantasy XI
2006 - Final Fantasy XII
2009 - Final Fantasy XIII
2010 - Final Fantasy XIV

Seriously, most iterations were released within a year or two from one another, yet now everything's spaced out and at this rate we won't get VsXIII till 2013, XV 2014 at the earliest.

The hell....and 8-10 are some of the best games ever and they made them all with only a year between each release.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

I don't know what the reason is but maybe SQEX should hire more staff for each team so the games have a larger workforce and therefore quicker dev cycle.

HD games take much longer to make. Square Enix should have seen that coming and expanded its studios.

Now they're being forced to make a sequel to the most hated Final Fantasy game of all type because they need the money.

Gawd, 3 Final Fantasy games are gonna come out before Versus! JUSS TELL US IT CANCELLED ALREADY !!! O_o

They stayed true to the same core mechanics and improved the game system after each installation. It wasnt until after X that they decided to go on a "New" path which involved reworking the gameplay formula which is why we've seen FFXI (Online) , FFXII (MMORPG like non online action RPG) , FFXIII (Somewhat turn based but with MMORPG like strategies , i.e tank, healer, attacker), FFXIV (whole new online gaming system) etc..

I'd say they started on their new path with FFX. That was the first game to get rid of the world map.
