Forgetting about the war side of things, the culture would be much different:

- Music would suck, yeah of course many of the greats are British/Canadian such as Beatles, Stones, Queen, Rush, Tragically Hip, etc. but let's be honest most good music is American.

- Movies would suck, name me one good [mainstream] movie that hollywood had nothing to do with. Bollywood sucks and Canada/Britain don't really make movies that I'm aware of.

- Cars might not be the way they are. Go ahead and say American cars suck these days, but America was unbeatable from like the early 1900s (the Model T) until like the 1970's or even 80's.

- TV would be boring as shit. Canada has made some good shows like Kenny Vs Spenny, Corner Gas, Red Green Show, etc. but really 99% of what Canadians are watching is American content.

- There would be no American football, no baseball, basketball was invented in Canada but probably wouldn't have caught on w/o America. Basically the only good sports would be Hockey, Rugby, Golf and Tennis because soccer SUCKS.

- Video games would suck. America makes some of the best video games there is. Plus there would be no Xbox. We would be stuck playing Final Fantasy and Mario instead of having great games like Fallout, Halo, Call of Duty, Gears, Skyrim, etc. I'll take this opportunity to brag that Mass Effect is made in Canada though!

- Canadians would have nowhere to go in the winter. We all go to Florida or California when its cold, and all our old people move to Florida when they hit 65. Without America we'll be stuck here freezing our asses off all year.

Your'e Canadian and you don't even know that you make movies?  The rest of your post is just one long love letter to all things american.

UMADBRO? And I know movies are MADE IN Canada, but they're still made by American companies.

How is anything I said a "love letter" when its true?

Fact: Ford revolutionized the car making industry, without them the auto industry would be years behind where it is now

Fact: America makes the best TV shows, and I don't mean shit reality shows...the good shows like Dexter, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, anything on HBO...all American

Fact: While like I said, many great bands are British, Canadian and Australian (forgot to mention Australia earlier), a good percentage of the good music is American.

Fact: Soccer is 90 minutes of boring, slow paced play and American Football is way better. Baseball and basketball suck, I'm not defending them.

Fact: A large percentage of the good video games are made in America. Of course Japan, Europe and Canada make some great content but let's watch the quality of games made go down to the shitter if America disappeared tomorrow.

Fact: My last thing about Florida was a joke

Personal preference does not equate to fact,  might give you the motor industry one though, just.

I'm aware most Canadians wish they was born 100km further south so I sort of understand your preference.

The world would be far worse. The only good thing is that there wouldn't be an Xbox brand.

don't know where we were then but one is for sure, if we would live in a better country we wouldn't know it. this should be clear, i can't miss something i would have if i don't know about it.

same vice versa, if the world would be worse i wouldn't miss what we have nowadays as well. but that's the same with everything, without pc's i wouldn't miss pc's and so on...

I tried hard to ignore your post, but it's just so...wrong. I could just state how things from other countries are better than the ones made in the US but thats based on my point of view, it's subjective, then I can't assume them as facts.

Then I suggest you could just say that this other hypothetical world wouldn't suit your tastes. For example, I would be delighted if there were no such thing as Hollywood.

OT: This thread is just silly, there are far too many variables, too many scenarios are possible. Now if the OP means something like, what would happen if suddenly the US cease to exist. Ignoring the financial and social chaos, I would feel sorry for some bands, a couple of people from the movie industry, and some economist and writers that we 'would' lost. But, it'd be no biggie, there are far better bands in other parts of the world (I would be devastated if it were the UK or France), same goes for movies, TV, science, plastic art and literature.

trololol sry but non of these are facts because you simply don't know it. for example hollywood movie blcokbusters are better because everytime someone plans to make a huge movie it will be a hollywood movie. if there wouldn't be hollywood how can you know we wouldn't have something like that in france or uk? sure chance is high we wouldn't have movies like transfomrer nowadays lol but the movies we would have then would be as popular as the american ones are. or do you think you would miss american style movies without usa? you would love the movies of your country then.

ahh and because you don't know mainstream movies which aren't from america doesn't mean there aren't good ones. if you mean with mainstream "has to be seen on the whole planet" then you are right but countries like spain have plenty of good movies they are just not shown in other countries but in this countryy it's mainstream.

soccer is the most popular sport on this planet. nice that you only like amercian sports but that makes it not more truthfully...and we have rugby not that this isn't as good as football...

i could say it to all you said. music industry of usa is the best but only because it's the biggest and all big names went to the usa to work there etc.

without the usa maybe the good music would be as good as the american is only from another country which would be the world leader in this then. hell wihout europe or asia there would never have been such a music industry in the usa so the music of america is only so good because of the music hundred years before from other countries lol

music would suck? maybe we only would hear more classical then like we did before american music industry grew so much. i wouldn't say classical music isn't good i could say american music industry destroyed really good music like excellent symphonies.

to all yo say i could say "if there wouldn't have been the first human in africa and thousand years later this or that guy doing this than blablub..."

don't understand me wrong i would say the same to my country germany. just because we invented this or that doesn't mean that it wouldn't be as good as it is without germany or that i would even think about it because, what i said inmy post before, if i wouldn't know it i wouldn't care about it.

you would like music as much as you do without america. it would be maybe a lot different but you wouldn't care then.

you seem to get brainwashed or so ;)... i like western games more than japanese games as well but if i wouldn't have played fallout or so i still would love japanese rpg's. i would have the same fun then only going back after knowing them would be awful.

nowadays we can travel with planes like we want which wasn't possible 40 years or so ago but did they have a bad life because of that? nowadays if i couldn't fly on vacation in another country i would die but without planes (cheap to travel) i really wouldn't care.

and noone did ever care about american cars outside of america. ford is big in other countries as well but they sell totally different cars here. i don't understand your thinking. without america the car industry would be what it is sure and without someone else in the car industry mr. ford would have sold shoes or so lol. i mean common mass production is really nothing noone else would have gotten the idea for. maybe ten years later and we would now drive cars we drove 1980 but we wouldn't care...

ohh damn i always have to say too much for what i really want to say lol. all i wish to say is this:

if we take the car industry for example and what you said, we could say this to like 30 different countries. without usa, germany, france, italy, england, japan and so on we wouldn't be where we are in this industry nowadays. without benz no ford without ford no whatever...

same with movie/musicindustry. american music industry wouldn't be like it is without france or norway^^ german music industry wouldn't be like it is without usa, italy and so on.

Haha I just love to troll soccer because there are a lot of Europeans on this site and it bothers them. Honestly though I don't understand why its popular, I can see why in 3rd world countries because all you need to play it is a ball and 2 posts to make a goal, but I don't get why it's popular in Europe. I do love rugby though, I don't know who invented it but its a great sport, played it my last year in high school. Once you understand how it works its a lot of fun to play and to watch.

Oh and you said I only like American sports...not even close! Hockey is my favourite (Canada) and the rest of the sports I like are European (golf, tennis, rugby) with the exception of American football.

And I know Movie/TV taste is subjective but its hard to deny America puts out the best (and some of the worst) content in these areas. I will give Britain the nod when it comes to music though, pretty amazing shit came from there. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, Beatles, Stones, half of Fleetwood Mac, The Who, The Clash, Sex Pistols, Cream, etc. Definitely equal to America in that respect.

That post is full of ignorance, I'm sorry for saying it. Just because you don't know of something doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Are you telling me there are movies, TV and music outside of North America?

No in all seriousness my post was partly just trolling, I had an earlier post that was more serious. I stand by the best movies being American (biggest budgets, big name actors, etc.) but of course I'm sure there's good TV elsewhere, and I know full well there is good music abroad.

It's popular for exactly the same reason (and because it's fun, simple and encourages good team-play).

I understand how its simple and fun to play, but if you can explain how people enjoy watching it I'd be forever indebted to you! I like playing baseball, basketball, and I even like playing soccer/football but I'd rather stick a knife in my chest than have to watch games of these three sports.

It is, this thread is a trick.
