I need a reference showing that Microsoft's definition of sold = shipped to retailers that isn't VGChartz.

You ought to check the news section a little more often - TheSource just put up an EXCELLENT post that ought to answer this question...         ...for at least the next hour or so when fanboys across the globe will, once again, ignore the obvious. :(

Well I knew VG chartz what right, that was never in question, I was in a debate at smashboards and I had to have a source that wasn't VGChartz.

Actually, as soon as I read the news post, that's what I used as my proof.

Guilty as charged. Defending this site is one thing I do not do.
I think you are really a Nintendo fan just trying to make the PS3 fans look so bad.

Anyone who is narrow-minded enough to label PS3 fans on the actions of a few invalidates their own opinion anyway. So it really doesn't matter.

Besides, saying that I defend this sites numbers or reputation would be a blatant lie because I definitely don't. There is just too much inconsistency to put any faith whatsoever in ioi's numbers. I prefer the truthful approach rather then lying for the sake of popularity. Whatever floats your boat though.

I don't think anyone claims the numbers here are perfect. Some say 10%, some may say off by as much as 30% for the more recent weeks. However, ioi always updates them when there is additional information available.  Even if they are not perfect, they have been consistantly correct for fairly accurate trending as verified by quarterly statements.

I don't know if ioi could do this or not... but I wonder if it would help if ioi could track sell-through numbers to stores. If both sets were up side by side, maybe people outside this site wouldn't get so confused when manufacturer's numbers are released and they are higher than the numbers here.

Another big problems is that many Americans can't get the difference between sold in the US and sold worldwide in their head...

Hardcore gaming is a bubble economy blown up by Microsoft's $7 $6 billion losses.

It comes down to this, the people on VGC (even the SDF'ers lol, just kidding) are more knowledgable about the industry than most people on other forums, and most of the misconceptions about VGC stem from ignorance

Felt good, right? :)

...won't last long though, so you better hand onto that link for a LOOOONG time - it'll only be a matter of time before another uneducated fool questions what the VGChartz numbers mean and how come they don't jive with PR spin. :(

 It did!

Unfortunately, you're right. Just a matter of time.
