Assassin's Creed 3 could be set in ancient Egypt, according to fresh evidence.

The first suggestion of the setting comes via the new issue of PSM3 magazine, which states in its rumour section that the 2012 sequel could use the setting for "at least part of the game."

Another hint is dropped at the end of Revelations itself (spoilers ahead) when Altair's son, Darim, notes he's taken some of the Assassin's books to Alexandria, the ancient capital of Egypt.

Of course it could just as easily be a red herring on behalf of the game's Montreal development team, but ancient Egypt's certainly one of the most called for settings amongst Assassin's fans.

Earlier this month Ubisoft confirmed it's planning a 'major' Assassin's Creed release for next year, and the game's development team's previously said it will star a new character.

It makes no sense that the main character in the next game is anyone but Desmond

it makes no sense to release assassins creed every year...man i love this series but playing it every year? i would hate to play halo or uncharted every year as well because it gets to boring then and kills the fun of every series for me.

i would buy it if it was i haven't bought anything after ac2 as it deviated too much from the roots of the series.

There's only one logical place for this to go: Egypt, where past character and modern Desmond search the pyramids together to find that they were made by those who came before, and they'e actually a massive weapon of which we can bring upon doomsda - What? too much like Revenge of the Fallen?
