The vast majority of people I know that married ended up divorcing, whether they had children or not. So I came to the conclusion that marriage isn't either a necessary or reliable way to have children, much better having children without marrying at all and save them from the painful and miserable experience of their parents' divorce, often preceded by awful couple problems. OTOH, one of the most united and happiest couples with children I know had their troubles initially, then their love became more mature and responsible and now they've been happy together for more than 20 years without ever marrying. And the "not-husband" of the couple is as playful and sportive as ever, he just switched from sailboats to bicycles and motorbikes (but he was a far better sailor than cyclist, according to his results in competitions). Anyway, CNN and other TV networks should just STFU about how we should live, especially after they show us all those fake and totally unreal life models and ways of life we see in soap operas and reality shows. Please. If they don't want to do it for us, they should just do it for themselves, to save themselves from ridiculousness. My humble advice to both men and woman is play more, watch less TV.

Its a shame the image of men within society has been belittled for the benefit of women this generation.

But, its kind of funny if you think about it, a lot of these men are probably happier without the stress/time cost of married life and children.

They can play video games all they please, travel wherever they want on weekends, play sports, workout, pick up one night stands, have a steady girlfriend, or get a new girlfriend without having to go through divorce/alimony/loss of assets/etc.

They don't have to follow the mass media's propaganda; they just live their lives as they see fit and enjoy life. Sort of Zentastic :D compared to the outdated lifestyle of the "traditional American man" they want this new generation of men to adhere to. Ambition ≠ Happiness

My job (when I'm not editing that is) involves watching DVD's and BR's and assessing their quality and finding errors that I then fix.

I can watch up to seven and half hours of media a day sometimes and the more I watch the more product we can shift efficiently, but I'm a special case. If I stopped watching DVD's and BR's I'd be less productive and make less money. ZING!

Yeah, probably so. What's interesting is that this was written by Bill Bennett, who is CNN's (only?) house conservative, yet he didn't even bother to mention the relentlessly anti-male regime of the past several decades. He really only obliquely references feminism one time when he talks about society celebrating the "rightful ascendance" of women, and then refers to the decline of males as if it's something that just... kinda happened, mostly thanks to video games and rap. The constant denigration of males was intended to essentially turn them into chicks, and while it did succeed in turning a few of them into effeminate hipsters, it had the entirely predictable result of turning the rest into listless bags of testosterone who find other outlets for their primal instincts in a world that has constantly told them that they aren't needed.

Failing to connect those obvious dots is a pretty glaring oversight. I'm not sure whether Bennett is tailoring his message to his stupid audience or just suffering from a lack of ambition of his own (probably caused by too much gaming gambling).
