One poorly marketed game with a 55% average selling poorly doesn't mean anything. There isn't any deeper meaning to a poor game selling poorly.

Seece said otherwise and he has no bias against the 360. According to him Kinect owners are to blame.

oh ok, one random guy is the barometer we're using to determine whether or not core games succeed on Kinect. Every Kinect owner has the option to play core titles, because they own a 360. Kinect is not a console, it's meant to target the large casual crowd present on Wii. Core gamers have the options to play those types of games or play the stuff they're used to being offered by the Xbox brand.

Which raises the question, why is MS still trying to bring core gamers into Kinect? I can't say RoN was hyped at all but core games on kinect don't seem to be taking off. I think dance central and the fitness games will carry kinect just fine...for about 2 more years.

I had high hopes for this one. I'm not gonna buy it (unless it's really cheap), though. Too many big games coming out in the next couple of months. I suspect that the Gunstringer will do similarly poor despite being critically acclaimed.

Just like I said way back when, any game selling for Kinect or even the PS Move isn't just competing against other Kinect/Move titles. They're competing against every other title on the console. I hoped it would do better but that's the reality of it. A game selling to a fraction of the 360's audience competing against every game on the 360 (and if you're a multiple console owner, every game on every console)--and in the case of Rise of Nightmares, a game that isn't very good.

*fixed*

When a core Kinect game fails, call me

It's right there in the OP:

''Child of Eden: 0.13m.''

Sorry I couldn't help myself. I'm shocked at how little it has sold - had no idea. I tried to rally some of my friends into buying it, but it didn't quite work out. A shame.

MS hasn't really put out a solid effort to do so just yet. Fable is probably the hardest they'll try, and the point is to get Kinect into the house to introduce it to more casual players. Someone who isn't an avid gamer most likely wont drop 300 on Kinect/360, especially if they already have a Wii.

Hey guys,

I thought we need to talk about this:

Rise of Nightmares sold 19,000 copies in its opening week. Let's be honest here, this is a MAJOR flop. Not even the enormous Kinect marketing push this holiday season will turn this game into a success.

This could have an impact on other hardcore games coming to Kinect and the next wave of titles could very well be the last, first and only one. People have been sceptical regarding Kinect core games all along and beyond the obvious problems of controls, there's also the question if Kinect core games would even sell in the first place.

So after the MAJOR flop that Rise of Nightmares is, can we still say that core games won't work and won't sell on Kinect?

  • Child of Eden: 0.13m.
  • Rise of Nightmares: 0.02m, but probably overtracked.
For comparison, Sega's Wii game MadWorld sold more than half a million copies.

oh god, that game took forever to reach those sales and was heavily discounted. Hell there selling this game for 2 bucks NEW on Amazon

...and that is strike three. You are out.

the games you mentioned flop, i dont know why you brought Madworld into it, you could have made your point without it.

You really should open up the link Rol has to understand..

Former something....

So, Kinect has only like 5% of hardcore gamers and the rest of casuals, like Wii?
