... makes me wonder which story was based off of which... oh wait...

Because everything Zeitgeist says is true right?

Read this: http://conspiracies.skepticproject.com/articles/zeitgeist/part-one/

Unlike Zeitgeist its statements are actually cited.

wth is zeitgeist?

The video that all that crap came from. They essentially made it up.

I didn't say that (religions often do have similar themes), but the similarities listed in that comic are for the most part completely made up.

The very fact that you can't prove or disprove god's existence proves he is not real. Religion has never predicted anything or has it said things wich were later found to be true but it has said multiple things wich later were proven untrue.

Religion is a scam and it's not easy to figure out.

Your father ends up in hospital with lung cancer.

you pray to god to help him

father get's cured - MIRACLE!
father dies - God's will.

Why pray in the first place?

Religion is there to control people and make them fear their actions, religious people are apparently so afraid of dying they NEED to believe there is something after life.

Religion is bullshit, it's a faerie tale.. I am so glad we found out about this in Western Europe so we could get on to real issues such as gun control, health care and education.

Other than some of your grammar, I agree with this completely. One of the best responses yet.

As I said look at this link.

I'm not going into a huge detailed expanation when there is a nice properly cited source that you've already been linked to.

I should start doing the same.

Well I dont have much to say on the topic that has not been said already, but this is some good stuff. The top link is another recent thread on the forum that obviously took a lot of time to do.

I didn't want to spam the other thread with criticism (since I really only have one thing to say on the matter), but Proving some events and people from the bible was real =/= proving God is real.  I'm a very strict, aggressive atheist (as shown by this thread and others), but I still firmly believe many of the events and people in the bible were real or really happened; obviously not to the extremes the bible paints it, though.

as far as I can tell, the bible is a piece of historical fiction.  Has real elements and characters, even taking place during real events, but with a spin all its own.

I got it all, baby!

PS4, Switch, WiiU, XBO, PC
Vita, 3DS, Android

Top 3 this generation:
Bloodborne, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Dark Souls III

I am a christian, but I am not here to argue. I just thought that was all interesting stuff, and it would go well with your thread. That sodom and gomorrah piece was particularly interesting! Even if I did not believe, I would still agree with you about the historical fiction part. Lots of cool stuff, kind of like the iliad for everyone to continue to discover!
