Forums - Sales Discussion - Assasin's Creed Sales

I'm playing AC at the moment and really enjoying it, the environments are massive, the crowd are done really well, controls are really tight and only the repetitiveness of the side missions smudge it a bit.

I personally think this franchise is gonna be one of the big ones of this gen.

Those people that think they're perfect give a bad reputation to us who are...

"With the DS, it's fair to say that Nintendo stepped out of the technical race and went for a feature differentiation with the touch screen, but I fear that it won't have a lasting impact beyond that of a gimmick - so the long-lasting appeal of the platform is at peril as a direct result of that." - Phil Harrison, Sony

I loved the game, and it is really good to see it doing well and I hope the next one is released soon. What I find interesting is that in others the PS3 version has outsold the 360 version, this being in spite of the fact that many reviews criticised the PS3 version for bugs (I found about 1) and it has a much smaller userbase.

eh its selling as quick as GOW on 360 should end with around 5m lifetime (i see GOW at 6m) and 3m on PS3 so huge numbers

its a great game that deserves to sell well. I just hope the sequel is as good without all of those little bugs and glitches. Also, i hope lucy is in there again and they make her look even more like kristen bell. That would be awsome since she is so hot ^ ^

Ubisoft did a great job with this games. I just hope that they don't get bought out by EA.

Random non-gamers who know I have an Xbox 360 ask me about Assassin's Creed.
And I tell them that it sucks.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Afther the sales of AC ... I dont think it will be possible ;)

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Jade's game has it's faults, but even the worst are the type that a lot of people don't care about, and mostly stuff that begins to bug you when you're well into the game. Jade's game selling a lot doesn't annoy me, although I really would appreciate if the inevitable sequel would focus more on hyping the awesomeness of itself, and not the pretty figure head of the development team.

I look forward to Jade's game 2, although it'd probably be better if they replaced her with someone chosen on competence alone.

The game is holding up surprisingly well in the charts.

Here's an article about it from gameindustry.biz about it being the top selling game in the all formats chart in the UK for 2007:

I think AC was overall very good but the game elements 'i.e. the missions' didn't fully exploit the engine they'd built.

However, with the learnings from this one I think the next could be amazing.
