Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Will Fable: The Journey Deteriorate the Fable Franchise Even Further?

Well I am going to give it more time. I vaguely saw the Peter Molyneux had said that he was very disappointed with the way it was shown so hopefully they will get it right this time, as I wasn't hugely impressed by either Fable II or III

Peter is always disappointed with the way the game turns out because his direction sucks. He wasn't impressed with Fable 2 or 3 either. He only hypes the game then revealed the truth in the end that he thought they were less than stellar when he makes another. Lets let the crazy bastard throw this game on rails then watch it fall off the edge.

I love how they call it "The Journey" as if you are playing this epic adventure game with unlimited freedom rather than a dumbed down on rails hack and slash.

Supposedly its not on rails.

Supposedly the Dog in Fable 2 is greatest most revolutionary part of any video game ever created or rather it was before fable 3 ;)

But don't worry op they can't dumb Fable franchise any more than it is currently.

50/50 Chance of being good or terrible.

If it's good, it will only be good, not great. It will sell as well as a mainstream Fable game, but primarily appeal to a casual audience. It will serve its purpose to attract new gamers to the 360, and to Kinect, but to hardcore fans it will only be a good game. Much like Resident Evil rail shooters on Wii are still good games.

If it's terrible, it will be terrible, simple as that. I don't think it could ever be so bad that the controls will be just garbage like Sonic Riders for Kinect, but this game could be the next Banjo: Nuts and Bolts.

That's my opinion, but I'm more inclined on it being good. Peter Monyloes has a habit of overhyping every game he makes, but still making an enjoyable game in the end.

Fable deteriorated after the first 30 minutes when we all realized the game was nothing that was promised.

Well the trailer made it seem like it was an on-rails game, which it is not, so I still will maintain a wait and see poilcy

Personally, I never listened to all the hype and promises Peter Moleneux made with Fable, so I never got any hopes up.
However... With each iteration I knew what I was getting with Fable, an easy to jump into Action/RPG with good side elements like marriage and such.

I also believe that 3 Fable games is enough, Peter Moleneux should really go back to his roots with games like Dungeon Keeper or Black and White where you control the hand of God, such a game in my opinion is perfect for Kinect, which can still retain the depth more demanding players desire.

Fable has been disappointing since Fable II for me. The first one was one of my favorite games of the seventh gen too.

Peter does need to go back to his roots. This.
