I don't get why the US and Euro covers are going for the "invincible fantasy hero"-style, since that's not even remotely what the game is about.

JP Demon's souls showed a hero lying dead in a corridor...

Bleh, I guess they have an awesome focus group to tell them what sells - although I personally don't get the logic of looking the same as all the other covers out there.

I would have preferred a very dark image with a distant warrior to stress oppresive atmosphere and the sense of solitude. I don't love any of them. They are just meh for me.

I really don't see what's so great about the Japanese box art. Sure it's "different" but that doesn't automatically make it good.

Love the CE box, but standard is absolutely horrific. Don't really care for Europe, either.

American box almost always suck and as well they love to do close face shots for box arts too. Killzone 2, God of War 3, Yakuza 3, MGS4 ...to name a few.  Its like they cant think of anything so lets just zoom into their face.

The Japanese cover actually gives a good idea of what the game's about.
