Forums - PC Discussion - Xbox Live Coming to PC with Windows 8

I can't imagine they'd charge for Live on PC... who would even pay that?

They tried and failed, and if they really start charging for it on PC, I can see 3rd parties all shift to Steam without a second though cause nobody would buy their shit anymore on PC.

I'd forgotten that they had tried that before.

Why does anyone want Windows 8 in general? Win Xp lasted what, 8 years (and counting)? Windows 7 is finally becoming a viable platform (unlike Vista), it has a good decade of life in it yet.

it's a bit weird because in all the three questions the guy basically said NOTHING. it's possible that they simply might let you use your Xbox Live gold account for the so far exclusive Xbox media content (Last.fm, etc)

uh..... are you being serious right now?

I like accessing the same environment on different devices, so as long as Microsoft can make Xbox Live compelling on the PC, I'm all for it.

Why do we even need Windows 8? I just got a computer with Win 7 last year...

Windows 7 will be around three years old when Windows 8 launches next year, that's a pretty normal timespan for when a new Windows is released. Windows 7 is horrible for addressing things like touch screens and other natural user interfaces, which is why we are getting Windows 8, amongst other reasons.

haha did I say anything stupid? he said "Xbox Live will [be] the pervasive media service across devices", that doesn't really say much about their plans especially with the current GFWL service. and what I said about the media content, as far as I know just because you have a gold account it doesn't mean you can use Last.fm freely on other devices (you'd have to subscribe to Last.fm itself on the PC to access all the features).

Why would you use Last.FM on PC when there are all those free services out there? o_O;
