I don't understand why anyone would choose 3G based on how it is handled.

Is the idea of using online gaming everywhere awesome? yes.
Is it worth an extra $15 to $30 a month on my cell phone bill while still be limited to how much I can actually play? absolutely not.

If they let us use the SIM cards we already have in our phones it would be worth it. Some of the games they showed you could play over 3G (at least that what they said...).

Playstation All-Stars is one of the best games I've played this gen, and is the most fun I've had in a game this gen.

Isn't the Party feature kinda like Skype? or am i wrong?
anyway getting the Wi-fi version first. might get the 3G version though (depends on the plan)

Unless you're grandfathered into an older unlimited data plan, its still a really bad choice. Even then you know AT&T will eventually force you to choose a new plan that is limited. It just makes no financial sense.... unless you can get the PSV for free through a two year contract... granted at $15 to $30 a month it would still cost you more in the long run for a limited data plan.

If there's some way to use 3G to telephone with Vita, the question is obsolete, definitely the 3G model.
Else, I want to see the advantages 3G offers me first.

yeah skype will be available and web browser will allow us to make calls

will depend on 3G plans,if unlimited plans are available then 3G

SONY please allow third parties to develop apps that way i can use it as my primary device

You sure Sony can offer Skype on the Vita? MS bought a few weeks ago. They don't have a handheld, so they don't need to compete with Sony here, but still...

Why wouldn't MS allow Skype on Vita? After all, all Sony PC's have Windows and some Sony Ericsson cellphones have had Windows Mobile and MS doesn't even try to prevent Sony from using them. Sony uses MS products when those products are necessary for their business and MS uses Sony products when they need them. Skype on Vita benefits both MS and Sony so I doubt MS would even consider not allowing Skype on Vita.

For an extra $50, I'd rather just have 3G hardware even if I don't renew access fees every month, or even rarely at all depending on what the network services and apps offer.

What I don't want to do is end up buying a second PSV when opting to "save" $50 with a WiFi only model in the event that the device is good enough to actually use regularly as a net enabled portable.

I'm assuming the non-contract monthly fee will be the same as the AT&T iPad at $20, which is reasonable.

Not worried about data limitations since I'm already a 3G AT&T user and it's never been an issue and I have no intention of suddenly downloading GBs of data through 3G any time soon.

I pre ordered it at gamestop already for the wifi only model. Hopefully they will give us a real release date instead of just saying later this fall.
