Forums - Sales Discussion - why the fuss over the wiiiiiiii ?

Hello I own a ps3 and a xbox 360 and i love the 360 and like my ps3. I didnt buy a wii because i  always thought of it as a kiddie gimmick. I have played zelda , mario ,  and metriod for the wii and loved them but other than those games I cant say theres a reason for me to buy the wii.  I don't understand why theres so much hype and fuss over the wii . My 2 nephews  have  wiis and 1 is 11 and the other is 8 , they loved it for a while but  came back tot he 360 for "real gaming". So my question is With a  game lineup like the wii has  how can it be selling wo well? Is  it just  wiiiiiiiii madness like the elmo thing and that hanna montana  thing thats happening now? I cans ee spening $400 on a ps3 for decent games and a bluray and I can definently see spending $300 on a 360 for great gaming and xbl but spending $250 on a wii with a handful of decent games just doesnt make sense to me.  Help  em out explain the wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. I have a DS and love it  for the  nintendo games and games like castlevania but again  cooking mama and  these type of games  I just dont get. I have a psp and play it alot also because of the better networking and the wifi goes longer distances.

I just want the nintendo fanboys to know im not bashing Nintendo in anyway I love nintendo  i just dont get the craze

For a family or a married couple the Wii is a great way to spend time together. For a solo gamer it is still a ton of fun with a decent amount of hardcore games, even more so with the VC games.

Heck, I love my Wii, but if you don't like it then maybe it's just not for you. Every game and every console is not for everyone. I doubt anything anyone types is going to convert the non-believers!

Try Trauma Center. It is wonderful! Also, the marble games like Mercury Meltdown Revolution are very fun. This are great single player games but even fun for multiplayer. I have not had so much fun playing games since the SNES / Genesis and days and of course you can play those games on the Wii. I am currently playing 2 NES games, even.

currently playing: Desktop Tower Defense (PC), Puzzle Quest (DS), Trauma Center New Blood (Wii), Guitar Hero III (Wii), Ghost Squad (Wii), Actraiser (SNES), Donkey Kong County (SNES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), Kirby's Adventure (NES)

will play next: Paper Mario (N64), Golden Axe II (Sega), NiGHTS (Wii)

like jimbo said, great for families.

Has enough good core games to keep a person who wants "real" games occupied, since alot of people don't have time to play 20+ full lenth games a year. Right now having about 8 high quality core games in enough. I agree, or now, there no way a hardcore game could live off the Wii solely like one could on the PS2. After this year however I suspect the Wii's library will expand greatly. Remember most devs did not consider the Wii as a major target console until about 8 months ago. I would assume starting in about 6 months we will start to see a steady flow of great Wii content from 3rd parties.

Nintendo just needs its own games to keep it going until then. They have SSBB, MKWii and WiiFit to do that. Along with some better 3rd party games from devs the bought into the Wii right away.

psn- tokila

add me, the more the merrier.

Metroid Prime 3
Zelda TP
SMG
SSBB
Mario Kart Wii
Zack & Wiki
No More Heroes
Project O
Battalion Wars
Super Paper Mario
Trauma Center
FF:CC
Fire Emblem
MoH:H2
Monster Hunter Tri
RE:UC (and RE4:Wii)

There are plenty of 'hardcore' Wii games both now and upcoming if you actually look. Many people are put off because 'kiddy' games exist on the system and don't actually bother looking for games that aren't 'kiddy'

There are enough high quality Wii games

I've played videogames for almost 25 years and what I have noticed over the past 10 or so years is the industry has been producing the same games with prettier graphics; for example the best game for the XBox 360 this year was Bioshock which is (pretty much) System Shock 2 (a 9 year old game) with prettier graphics. The Wii has not hit its stride yet but has already offered more new experiences that I have gotten from my XBox 360.

Try godfather... Good storyline and i would consider it to be "hard core", Also try red steel. most people will talk bad about it, but i feel the controls really show the potential of first person shooters. the sword fighting needs improvement but definately shows what the Wii will be all about once developers really start trying. Ignore the storyline for it though since its really dumb.
