Forums - Gaming Discussion - Has the Wii failed as a gamer console?

I believe it has failed. I have no interest in any of its games, meanwhile I own both PS3 and X360.

I feel the same way about the PS3.

To each their own.

Doesn't mean it's failed as a gamer's console though..

Around the Network

I dont think you can say it has failed from a general perspective, although it has failed to hit the mark with hard core gamers.

The Gamer - Cheap PS3 Games

I know I'll always see it as the console that renewed my interest in gaming after a generation that nearly made me quit

I don't think Wii has failed. I actually think Wii has done better than X360 or PS3 as a gamers console. It has done what a gaming console should do which PS3/X360 failed to do completely. The Wii has introduced a new form of control and hence a new experience while expanding the videogame market and gaming population - excatly what a system should be doing.

I also think it has a great library of games, matching in quality if not quanity of what the other two systems can offer while having much more diversity.

The Wii might not be perfect but I think it would be a shame if such an important (to both gaming in general and Nintendo themselves) and fun system was disregarded and forgotten.

No, no it hasn't. Not only did it bring back gamers who were abandonned after the NES/SNES, it also brought in a whole lot of new people to games. It made games, along with the DS, more popular. That is precisely what a gamer's console is.
