Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is Nintendo descending into hell?

Nope not at all.. Even if they recieve a major blow with the 3DS and Wii decline like you say, they've earned a ton of profit from Wii and DS to the point where they could probably withstand a major decline and still be ok. If they can survive the Virtual Boy, Gamecube, N64, etc, they will no doubt be fine now.

I don't know where some people are getting this doomsday stuff about 3DS. Sure, it probably won't sell as well as the DS, but then again what will? It still seems to have a really strong library, particularly of third party games, where Nintendo consoles are usually lacking, so by that merit alone it should recieve decent sales. As long as Nintendo provides a strong library, it will sell, simple as that. And if and when Nintendo ever wisens up and throws out anothe 2D Mario for 3DS, forget about it.. the thing' sales will become monumental.

Heaven and hell is from Iwata's own vocabulary. He says that for entertainment companies there is only a heaven and a hell, and that if they fail they will be crushed. I remember that from an investor's meeting very clearly. I think E3 will be very telling. I think Nintendo doesn't have the manpower to properly back two powerful systems(Wii and 3DS), both take about the same ammount of resources, and many Wii teams are now focused on 3DS, and if that bombs, there goes heaven right there.

No.  I wouldn't be surprised is this was a huge wake up call for them though.

One thing I don't see stressed enough is how they're gonna manage resources now with two powerful systems. I couldn't even imagine if they had a next gen system to take care of.

Why do you care so much? It's not like you're making any money from worrying for them.

I can tell you how they will handel it use the piles of cash they have to hire more developers and commision third parties to develop games. Oh wait they are doing that....

Pilotwings Resort was handled by Monster games a third party

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is handled by Grezzo a third party

Steel Diver was done by Vitie Inc a third party

Kid Icarus: Uprising is being developed by Project Sora founded by Nintendo in 2009

most of the big Wii games of late have been developed by third parties The Last Story, Monster Hunter Tri etc and of the few confirmed upcoming Wii games I can think of only Skyward Sword is being developed by Nintendo.

Yea I think they have enough developers to support all their platforms, especially with their habit of outsourcing games to third parties...

What did people expect? 1 million each week in Spring?

Why not?

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Well, Nintendo failed with the Wii because it was casual, and casuals are is just another word that hardcore cool d00ds have for retards.

3DS failed because it didn't sell as many as the DS did, DS sold 150 million, but 3DS only managed to sell just over 2 million. That's what the hardcores say...

When the holidays are said and done, the biggest selling items are going to be the 3DS (best selling item of the year), the Wii (best selling console of the year)  Kinect isn't going to be a slouch, either.  Take your doom elsewhere.

Wow Nintendo is on to something, Imagine the untapped market of Billions of Dead and demons.

If this is True Nintendo is going to knock Sony, MS and apple right out of the market.

I've heard that Chaeron is a hardcore gamer, when he's not manning the ferry to Hades.

Though, I'd imagine in hell, if they're bringing Nintendo games there, your selection would be limited to the Imagine Babiez! and Inagine Petz! series. =D
